We're just lucky to have them Dave! They just pop in once in awhile to say Hi I think ;)

Besides jimmer is busy in "another" manufacturer forum usually ;)
He seems to be a regular knife guy like the rest of us who is just lucky enough to work at Buck ;) (and share his knowledge when he has time ;)
thanks jimmer and heng-em) ;)

Ok, I have a custom shop experience. Upon receiving a custom 110 with asian water buffalo horn scales and silver bolsters, I noticed the knife did not have that famous "Buck Alligator Jaw Snap" when it closed. In fact it did not close, completely. Then, when I got it back, It would close real hard and snap back up. There is a name for this, but I forget what it's called when a knife over travels like this. Anyway, I emailed Joe and he said to send it back again. When I got it back the second time, Joe had swapped out the regular blade for a BG-42 steel blade. There was no option for polished bg-42, and since I had wanted a polished blade, Joe hand polished it himself. That meant a great deal to me and says a lot about Buck Knives and Joe Houser. That custom 110 is one knife that I do not plan to sell, because of the story. Hope you all have great luck with your orders, but if not, only a little time will be needed for your ultimate satisfaction.

Rob...what APF said. Thanks for posting.
I have two customs that I ordered and one that I traded for and I ended up messing up the elk stag by wet forming to a sheath (dye transferred).

The two I ordered were perfect and in my grubby hands within the time specified. The scale replacement was done within five weeks.

Happy as a clam...

This one I really enjoy to look at.
110NS Elk that had to have stag replaced. Came back with Brass pins but kept NS bolster.

buckaholic: thanks for the pics. Really nice grain pattern on that Damascus Koa. Of course, they are all very unique pieces. The thing is; you could send the elk back for silver pins and Joe would probably do it. As it is, you have a great, unique, knife with a story to it.

Thanks Rob...
Yep, I like the damascus. The Sambar (2006) sits on a stand and the Koa (2007) is my 110 EDC.

Here is the original thread on the brass pin with NS bolster. Joe did contact me to fix it up, but I like having something unique straight from the shop.
