Pete of the custom shop
(with whom this friend ship knife idea was started)
is no longer with Buck Knives
this might not be viable idea now.. sorry .. read last post
""it is kinda of a group friend ship knife
some thing to say i am a part of your circle and
there for touch you life as you do mine
some thing simple as in we all share the same thing
as we all share being friends
it is a desire for a simple knife commemorating our comradely ...
not a supper fancy dream knife..""[/I]

like i know this is a off the wall question
but i talked with Pete today
and the subject of ordering some knives for forum members to buy
come up

he said that first there had to be min of 250 ordered
and that s30v is doable..
handle inlays are open subject
price was not discussed
i know that in the past there has been talk of a blade forum or buck buddy's
knife and dreaming of what some one would like
what i am asking is are there enough of us to make up an order for
250 knives?
this most likely would take some ordering more then one knife
like some of us ordering 3 or 4 to give as gifts to relatives
lesser scale material like oak or walnut would be laser engraved on the
inlay with buck knife buddy's for ever or some such silly saying.. and possibly a deer head
which would also keep the cost of the knife lower
it could be possible to laser etch that saying on the blade also

so is there enough folks that an order for 250 can be made?
if not i wont check out pricing
we need to first be sure there could be enough knives ordered..
yours
dave

I would be interested. Buck offers a giraffe handle on the custom fixed blade. This would be my choice for a handle material. I think Nickel bolster would look nice with giraffe. Is this a possibility?

Dave, not to pour cold water on your head but they still haven't sold out of those BG42/G10 110s and they only made 200 of those. It seem unlikely that anyone would like to get themselves on the hook for trying to collect individually for 250 knives that cost $100-$200.

Nice idea Dave though and would I like to have a special Buck Buddies Knife...you bet cha.

I have 2 of the BG42/G-10's already , so I would be down for 2 of whatever type of knife you guys come up with. NOW ONLY 243 to go!!

Take care, Mike Arnold

I think a Bladeforums knife would be cool. However, where could I get a BG42/G10 110? I would be interested in one of those too!

Are they on closeout yet?

Yeah, I'm a cheapskate. I might be interested... my Alabama state income tax refund may be here by next fall some time...

Stainz (237.5)

I'm in for a couple. sign me up!

Me too.Make it a Blade Forum etch and post in general and it would prolly fill right out.Nickel Silver bolsters would be better to me and wouldn't add much $.Just my dos centavos.

includeing my 3 that only leaves 230 to go..

i think nickel would not be an additional charge
i have a 111 with giraffe and it is Sweet!
but pricey and hard to get laser to not damage it
pricey would rule out many from buying two to one
or three to two..
price is a concern these days

230 to go ,,, well we will let it set and cook for a bit..
when we get to 150 left i will see of getting a price fix
you know if you never ask the answer is always no..

as to the G10's they are listed on the Buck Web site under clear out
price is 170 i think.. that is down from the retail of 220 ...
and none of these left have issues with fit and finish!!
all class A work
shame the red micarta spacer did not show up real well..

Any kind of LE 110 under 75.00 WILL sellout...50 will go in a day 250 might take a few weeks...

Dave,

I see your seriously taking names here.
If your ballbarking for a $100-$125 knife, put me down for a trio.
How about Carbon Fiber as a scale?

well
Flat' any thing can be had if the price is right..
some how i dont thing carbon will be "reasonable" from buck..
after all i think they used up existing strider stock on build outs

i do not think what they have will not be thick or long enough to do 110's
recall the g10 was too thin..

i did not want to say but
yes i am hoping to not sore over that c'note mark

at the show i found out that
the amount of work is critical to pricing!!

even the Club has issues with pricing and number made..
the simpler the issue the less it cost
if it is real simple the club can
some times get them in numbers of 150 or 100
but thoes days are closeing as set up no mater how simple is quite a lot..

my personal thought is
if it would only be laser engraving on wood scales and s30v
we can stay below 100 easly
simple like that might even be possible we
can beg and get less then 250 for min order..

Well then Big Boy, tell 'em you'll take S30V lazerized with contoured Charcoal Dymondwood®, FG, NS, and a nice brown sheath. How about that????

I don't get all the big expense in carbon fiber handled knives. I bought a piece big enough to do about 4 110s for $10. I think some things just have big profit built in and CF may be one.
