Buck Knife Storage

Hi guys,
how come no one has come up with pelican cases?
http://www.peli.com/?q=en/cases/waterproof-peli-cases-medium-1550.html
sure, they are expensive, but so is your collection.
you can put them in there standing upright, it will take lots of knives (if there aren't too long, but you can take other models then). They are very strong, waterproof (dry atmosphere == no rust) can be locked and fixed, look cool and can be adjusted to your storage needs.

No, I'm not associated with peli :)

Well you all make me look ashamed. For years I have kept my BUCK’s in 48 qt Gott Ice Chests.

I gotta tell ya little story. An avid hunting friend of mine happened to come by the house, one day, several years ago. His wife and my wife had worked together for years. We were talking, about hunting, of course, and he asked what kind of knife I liked. Naturally, I told him I was a Buck collector. At that time I had about a dozen fixed blades and probably that many slippies. He'd never met anyone who "collected" knives and asked how many I had and I had to tell him, "A whole sack full". At that time I kept them all in a canvas sack with a drawstring at the top. This guy still tells folks, "Ask Jack to see his knife collection---He has a whole sack full!!"

I've now outgrown the sack, and wanted to display them all, so now, they're all in my Man Cave, but out where folks can see them. I still have the sack, though, if I ever need it again.

I have had several or so Wives that have ranted and screamed "no more knives or guns or I am filing for a Divorce".!* So I kept the Knives and Guns and I filed for a Divorce [been through 4 wives] and am still adding to my Guns and Knives as I have more room now (but no more females - as they seem to be more trouble than they are worth] and now I also have more Fishing stuff and more time to Fish and Hunt and play with my Knives.!! Problem solved.!! Believe me the cost of the D - I - V - O - C -E - S were well worth it.!! Just my opinion though.! LOL

I just gotta throw in my 2 cents worth here (one of the rare times I am giving just opinion). For those REALLY special/custom knives you have, Gerstner Tool Chests makes some unbelievably beautiful wooden chests with drawers that showcase knives perfectly. Gerstner is very similar to Buck Knives in that they have been in business a bit over 100yrs, and are still family owned. They make they top of the line (wooden) tool chests for machinists. I have several of them from my days when I used to do actually work. Gerstner also makes boxes/chests for hobby applications, reloading, sewing and they were targeting the knife collector market.
Several years ago at the SHOT Show I met and talked with Kim Cambell who is the granddaughter of the founder. Over a couple of years gave them info and were trying to help them become more established in the knife market; at one of the Blade shows I believe we let them share part of our booth space.
Anyway, they are fantastic chests; they're traditional ones are made in Dayton (I think) Ohio. They are not cheap, but are exquisite. They do offer a line of Gerstner International which are made offshore to VERY strict specifications which are significantly less expensive- I would not hesitate to buy one (in fact I didn't- I have a couple of these also).
Wood choices are Oak, Cherry and they used to offer walnut, but I do not know if walnut is still available.

I just googled that and came up with their website. Their wood choices now seem to be maple, oak and cherry, all beautiful woods. Here's the link:
