Buck Knives 40% OFF Father's Day Sale!

If you didn't get an e-mail, the promocode is...

peter78 - We didn't post the promocode because deal-spotting is prohibited on this Forum...If someone blows you in, it's 10 points towards walking the plank...

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/f...sts#faq_faq_infractions_auction_deal_spotting

This is kind of a gray area, since Buck is a Dealer member, but it wasn't Buck who posted the "deal"...334dave is sort of the expert on what will get you points/warned/banned/... :p

I'd like to know about the BCCI discount too

Here's the text from the letter that members get:

"Following is my pricing:

For BCC life members - wholesale cost plus 10 %

For BCC annual members - wholesale cost plus 15%

For non-members of the BCC - wholesale cost plus 20%

Wholesale cost is 50% of suggested retail. Club members receive a price list each year with their catalog so the suggested retail is always known. "

It's 50% off plus 10 or 15%. Still amounts to about 40% off plus shipping.

I'm not so sure about that. I just put a pencil to it and a Life member gets a 50% discount plus 10% and then add shipping. For a standard 110 ($66 in the catalog) that came to $39.60 + shipping from Larry. 40% off from the site is $39.60 with free shipping. Unless my math is wrong.

Well, 50% of $66 is $33, plus 10%, which is $3.30, totals $36.30 with my math. That does not include shipping; however, so the two prices are going to be close. And those prices are 24/7/365 so you don't have to wait for a sale. It's one of the benefits of being a BCCI member.

When I ordered from Larry, it was my understanding that the 10% was of the original price and would have been 6.60. I ordered several at the time and didn't see exactly how it was computed.

Well, gee you have a good point there. I know I see other codes on other forums that help me buy things, but like you said Buck is actually part of this forum. I decided to take off the promocode on my own.

Maybe, now I will only get 5 points for walking the plank. Thanks for the help.

That's a discrepacy that Larry will have to resolve; I'm certainly not going to quibble over three bucks!! :)

Unless those three bucks are three BUCKS!!

Here's the text from the letter that members get:...

Thanks for the info Plumberdv... Might be more accurate though to say "Here's the text from the letter that "some" members get:"

So, no top secret "List" from Mr. Oden, just the catalog and price list...?

Thanks again

Geez, I feel like I'm debatimg my wife here, but here goes. That reasoning would simply make it 60% of retail (or 40% off) so I would think Larry would just state it was 60% rather than 50% plus 10% of that price. I can't find any old invoices to back that up however.

I don't really think any letter or list was ever sent out to BCCI members by the club itself. The letter is actually from Larry Oden and is sent by him along with his list, which is a kinda like your Santa wish list for Buck knives, when you contact him and request same. Larry's list of knives for sale is not the same as the catalog and price list send out by BCCI. I'll bet a lot of money that Larry's phone/email is going to be busy next week.

Edit: For those who do not know about Larry, he is an authorized Buck dealer and he also sells knives on consignment. Oh, and he also has one heck off a Buck knife collection as well. I think 300 Bucks may have posted a photo of his display at Atlanta in that thread.

Thanks Tin Sue,

I sent Larry an email. I also suggested he may want to pop in here and give us the skinny, might save him some time next week.
I included a link to this thread...

The knives he sells on consignment, that might be the list I remember hearing rumors of in threads long past.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or not...but I among others here [coff*334dave*coff] have been gigged for similar infractions...and we would prefer to police our Forum ourselves, and let the moderators deal with more important evildoers elsewhere, like pill spammers, shoe spammers, trolls, and other such lowlife as can be seen in the Walk The Plank thread every month...which is actually quite entertaining, as the mods can be pretty clever in their witticisms... :D

Here's this months -

No, I really wasn't being sarcastic and I appreciate looking out for me, before the moderators do it. I did change my post to something non-related to the promocode.

I guess I was trying to be funny saying "Maybe, now I will only get 5 points for walking the plank", but I guess it was trying to be light hearted about my mistake.

I find it interesting about Larry giving us a discount, I have his card so I will give him an e-mail when I really need that "other" knife.

Buck has gotta know these elk horn handles are not up to snuff! Custom shop prices for elk horn handles are $82.50 while ram is $61 on the 110, yet the prices of the 112 on their web specials are just reversed, being $80 for ram and $50 for elk.

Edit: Wrong thread - Should have gone in the Elk 112 thread!

I got an email response from Larry Oden this morning. He forwarded me the letter that Plumbrdv was referring to, I'll attach it as a PDF... I'm going to go ahead and post it in the BCCI stickie thread up top too.

Dear Knife enthusiast,

I am now an authorized dealer for Buck Knives. It is my goal to assist you in obtaining current
production Buck knives at a reasonable cost. Also, you will not be gouged by those ridiculous
"shipping and handling" charges which many of the mail order outfits use to boost their gross
profit margin.

I am an active member of the Buck Collectors Club and you will notice that my pricing structure
is designed to give you an incentive to join our club. Not only will you get the best pricing, but
members of the BCC also get many great benefits including a quarterly newsletter and the annual
Buck catalog. These items will keep you informed of, among other things, new products, special
production runs and limited edition knives. If you are not a member, please ask me how to join.
Annual memberships are $20.00 and life memberships are $100.00.

Following is my pricing:

For BCC life members - wholesale cost plus 10 %

For BCC annual members - wholesale cost plus 15%

For non-members of the BCC - wholesale cost plus 20%

Wholesale cost is 50% of suggested retail. Club members receive a price list each year with their
catalog so the suggested retail is always known. By the way, actual freight charges from El
Cajon to Peru, Indiana will be passed along and you will pay only the actual shipping costs from
Peru to your address. Again, there will never be any "handling" charges, only actual freight. If
multiple orders are received, I will pro-rate the freight from Buck Knives to Peru among all the
orders received.

My card is enclosed. I look forward to hearing from you.

Your friend,

Larry Oden

Thanks all for the info and for posting Larry's letter MWallace, looks like I may need to check the Buck catalog again, hmmm......

If I remember correctly, I didn't get the letter from Larry automaticly when I joined BCCI. I was told about the deal and Larry sent me the letter after I e-mailed asking how to order from him.
