Buck Knives and Diminishing Returns.

I'm happy that this thread exists. There should be a means for us, the customers, to voice our honest opinions about the product. Customer feedback is essential to any company's success. And Buck has done a great job, in the past, of listening to their customers. Censoring any thread that discusses QC would only hurt the company, and I think it says a great deal that Buck has not jumped into this thread with a comment. It wasn't necessary.
Speaking only for myself, I am thankful that we still have a few companies, like Buck, that provide a quality American-made product at a reasonable price. I hope that they continue to do so for many years.

I agree that good enough is good enough. I095 is good enough for me. We buy premium items for form, not necessarily function. It may be a lesson learned growing up poor that $6.00 Starbucks coffee is not six times as good as $1.00 convenience store coffee.
its also important to know that starbucks isnt selling coffee, theyre selling the green logo. often that $1 coffee aint too bad, and mcdonalds has some of the best coffee around.. nobodys posting their latest trip to mcdonalds on instagram though....

Curious how long Buck will let this bash thread continue? They pay for this sub-forum to be here, after all.

That being said, if the problem was epidemic I expect there would be a hell of a lot more posts and videos bashing the QC out there.

Here's an example of random sampling...
100 112 slims and 50-60 110 and 112 lites.
Every knife opened, examined, engraved, cleaned, closed, and boxed.
I remember exactly zero that weren't up to expectations.

I like seeing all of those Buck 110 LT and 112 LTs all in a box. It makes me feel good about the world. Those colors are really cool too!

I don't think the OP was bashing Buck. And constructive criticism (or even just criticism) is fine. Everyone is allowed their opinion, and if slobbering fanboys get to have one then so do the rest of us. lol
I have had mostly really great Buck knives, and I have seen some pretty bad ones too. They make knives in America (mostly :() with high labor costs and some pretty old tooling so they can't have crazy precise QC standards since they would go broke trying to make every knife perfect. So you pays your money and you takes your chances. Overall they make good stuff, but honestly they put out some lemons too. I'm with you OP, the basic knives are a good value but the pricier ones are sometimes too crudely made for the cost.

Ditto to what rhino rhino said. I somehow missed this thread the first time around and just started reading from the end. I didn't make it past those colorful 110LT's and 112LT's. I didn't know they were available in anything except black (and the occasional orange for the 110LT's). Does anyone know where/when these were available? I would love to see more.

That is all. I have nothing of substance to add to the original topic.

I probaby have 30 or so and I've only had to return one due to a blade being cocked excessively.
I'm really surprised by what a quality item you get for the price for their standard offerings.
This does not mean raise the prices!!!
My dollar limit is around $200 and from what I've seen the fit and finish certainly goes up.
