I spoke w/ Buck Warranty, Got the go ahead to send in a fixed blade paring knife #211 Buck Forever Warranty, the CSR was nice enough. Packed it up $10+ UPS shipping to Buck.
Then several weeks later, I get a 941 spreader/Sandwich blade to replace a knife, Not close to what I sent.... so OK, I emailed them.
"Send our mistake back", another shipping + handling charge on me to correct the shipping mistake. This is ridiculous, I already paid for the knife and tax AND paid to ship it into warranty, I get to pay some more to make it right........
Well as I have read here, they just are not what they were.......how sad is that. I gave them many days to make it right.......
Really disappointed, my father gave me a 303 as my first EDC, and he carried one most days while he was alive.
Take Buck Knives off the list!

Somethings really wrong here as Buck has no record of offering a model 211 fixed blade paring knife. DM

Why would you pay $10 to ship a knife to Buck? Flat rate box is half that.
Did you ask for a call tag when they admitted their mistake?
'Bet they would have sent one.

There is no way that's how it went down.

Taken from and auction site:

"BUCK MODERNE 3" PARING KNIFE. MODEL #211, NIB. ON SIDE IT SAYS " BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, 1988 NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING, SAN DIEGO, "THE ADVENTURE BEGINS."

Google Buck 211 Paring Knife

Well, this is certainly a surprise, if in fact legitimate. I've only called them a couple of times (only had to), but always had great experiences with Buck's customer service.

The 211 is in the Moderne series. I am afraid there is no way Buck can replace this knife as it has been discontinued for many years.

Yeah They should have contacted you before sending something completely different.

So your first post is to stir people up. These Buck Collectors are some of the nicest people around. Maybe you should have done some research on your knife and knowing its age ask the kind people at Buck what they could do for this long discontinued model. Did you tell them it had a special meaning to you? If not they did all that they could by replacing it with as close a model as they can. Sounds like an honest warranty replacement to me.

Wow, I'd say that Buck did honer your warranty issue on a knife that is at least 25-28 years old. The 941 spreader they sent you was an up-grade to your parring knife. To bad you did not appreciate their kind Gesture, As stated by you they are still honoring your wish and will replace the spreader with the cheaper parring knife to keep you happy. kudos to Buck on a job well done!

Many of you might not have an idea of what our new poster's knife looked like. Here is a photo of a slightly larger utility/steak knife with a 4.5" blade and longer handle but same materials and same design (you can find these on the auction site, set goes for about $12 per knife):

If you read bucks warranty page they tell you to let them know if the knife has sentimental value so they can discuss with you to repair or replace. So did you before hand? Because if you sent an old knife out how did you expect them to replace it with a like model?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Nice of Buck to replace the knife as close as possible. Makes me appreciate their customer service even more.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will create a membership on a web forum to complain about a product or service, but heaven forbid they sign up for a forum and ask a for experience or suggestions prior to sending it for service. Especially for something that is obsolete.

Sounds to me like Buck fulfilled their obligation.

I'm not sure jumping his a$$ was the right response though...

Things happen. Companies as big as BUCK are going to make someone unhappy from time to time. No way around it.

ok, I checked Buck's model history site and that model or number did not appear. So, I couldn't have known any difference. Excuse me. Wonder why Buck's Moderne series does not appear in their model history? DM

Mr Martin would you like to wager your wallet against your speculation? say $5000.00?

I like how this Guy is willing to wager 5,000 when it appears he hasn't spent $100 on Buck knives in his whole life, I'm sure Buck is going to be terribly devastated to lose such a valued Customer
