Buck knives moving to Idaho?

Buck has made the right choice. CA. is just too expensive. Buck makes a quality product at an afforable price.

Joe,
The cold and snow are how normal folks know that it is winter. Unlike smog-bound Southern Cal, you don't have to wait for a clear day to see the mountains and the stars. The air there isn't like breathing second hand smoke. And remember, anyone that lives within 10 miles is a "neighbor" and will look out for your interests if you do the same for him. Have no fear. :) Racer Roy

As a native San Diegan, I'm gonna miss all of ya at 'Team Buck!

This next part is for C.J.; as Buck Knives 'stream-lines/right-sizes/becomes more economically viable', having BTDT, I just have to ask...

With your product line becoming more CNC machine intensive, with smaller lot 'cutting edge' designs, and/or collaborative efforts being all the rage, what are you going to do with all your older/discontinued stock?

Is there going to be a local 'sell off' of your tooling and machines, and if so, when?

And, as with your annual 'overstock/discontinued' sales, is there going to be a local sale of soon-to-be overstocked items that Buck will no longer be producing up in Idaho?

If so, 'when and where' will such a sale take place, and how will such a sale affect your current 'Buck Knives' stocking distributors?

Many of us Buck fans realize that the product line is evolving, and as such, changes will need to be made in the company's financial model, just as we realize that certain product designs will be carried over, while others won't.

We, those of us that are long time Buck Knives fans, would be more than happy to ease the transition by taking 'old stock' items off your hands, contingent on our 'assistance' not having a negative impact on the financial well-being of your stocking distributors... ;)

That said, what's the story on discontinued/overstocked product items from a product clearance standpoint, or more importantly, 'What's (when's) the deal'?

Good luck and God-speed guys, and if you ever need another knife enthusiast employee, you know where to find me...Idaho sounds pretty nice about right now...

I remain, a fan of Buck Knives,

Mel

Roy,
Thanks for that, I keep forgetting the benefits of the move out of California! I just keep letting myself get bummed out at the thought of leaving my birthplace. Sigh...
But Idaho has elk and turkey and deer, oh my! :)

FINALLY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

GOOD MOVE, get out of that leftest State and into a place where you can make some money and GRAY DAVIS wont take it all away!! ;)

Its kinda funny, one of things I was gonna miss about leaving Cali. for Idaho was getting to visit with Paul Bos now and again.. Then I find out buck is going to the same locale! What are the odds of that happening?HA!! Anyway I for one cant WAIT to live in AMERICA again! Time to BLOW this taco stand..

Good luck to everyone on the move. It can be stressful, but after a year or so, I'll bet you wondered what it was about California that you liked... :D

Trace: You crack me up, Beside being a great knif maker your a great comidian, I dont know how I will handle temps under 60 deg. Your friend Paul.

We realize that the brain trust we have in ourselves and our people and are taking the steps we need to recreate the Buck company up in post falls.

Paul Bos and his wife have expressed high interest in relocating and we definitely want Paul to relocate.

Thanks for all the kind sentiments.

Paul - I thought your ovens will heat up the place :D

@Paul, CJ, Joe & all Buckaroos - good luck with your move

Klaus

Paul its just a matter of wearing a Jacket!;)
I KNOW we have been spoiled by these winters but JEEZE! This place is becoming a toilet, and an EXPENSIVE toilet at that! I look forward to living where you dont have to worry about losing your guns, or whatever else these Commies decide to ban.. Just think how much cooler the summers will be buddy!, and all the great fishing we can do!!
 If I could have done it already, I would be there now! I think Buck has made a SUPER choice, Post Falls is FANTASTIC! Paul you and your wife are going to LOVE it, once you get up there, and check it out.. You can always snuggle up to those big ovens on cold days, and as you know I am pretty well insulated, so I am good to go!!:D

Paul Bos is wondering about how to handle temperatures! HA, thats a good one. Don't worry, you'll get acclimated to it in a matter of days (or maybe months:)). All Rinaldi has to do is trade in the drinking shirts for drinking parkas!

Good luck in your move up north. I must confess I don't envy you. I was living in Hemet SoCal for 12 years before I called it quits and relocated here to New Mexico. I do miss the warm weather during the winter!

Sounds like we should start a "cold weather tips" thread for everyone relocating. I don't know how cold Idaho gets in the winter, but I'm a South Dakota native who can tell you a thing or two to make you more comfortable and safe in the winter...

Hey Joe-

Remember discussing photographs, and not being able to get a decent picture except on a cloudy day? (This Thread)

Gotta watch what you say, the karma can come back to get you! It can get real cloudy in a blizzard! :D
(At least you're not moving to Seattle) :p
