I have an old Buck 110 that is as old as they come. The blade had been sharpened until when closed the tip wasn't completely within the handle and was dangerous because the sharp tip was exposed. So, I called Buck and they said to send it in and they would fix it for $10. They had the knife for about 45 days and when I got it back it was beautifully restored with a new blade and was completely cleaned and buffed It was even more beautiful than when it was new. And, they also sent me a coupon worth 25% discount on my next Buck knife. Best of all, they're located right here in Idaho.

I plan to send a letter to the Governor to let him know how lucky we are to have such a great knife making business like Buck here in our state. I'll also ask him and my state legislators to do whatever they can to keep and nurture Buck in our state.

Thanks Buck Knives - you ROCK!!!

Great to hear of your positive experience, Teague. Once I was overcharged by a courier for a shipment from Buck. I mentioned it to them and they went back over two years of records to find the error and make it right. Simply put, Buck has the best warranty and customer service in the business - period.

There are so many different knives that it is difficult to keep up with them. When recommendations are requested for camping or backpacking knives Buck is seldom mentioned.

I have used Buck knives for many years with complete satisfaction. The Woodsman has gone on many hunting trips with me. It takes me awhile to get it sharpened, but if I were to go on a backpacking trip that is what I would carry - in addition to a SAK.:)

The 110 is a classic, and I am surprised they are still available at WalMart and Kmart.
Regards,
Jerry

Glad to hear of your experience with Buck. Many years ago I sent a very old skinner back to the company explaining that it had been burned in a fire by accident following a hunting trip. What occured was that some nimrod had wrapped the thing up in pieces of newspaper and thrown the remains of the deer processing into the stove. It had been quite cold outside and we thought we could butcher the deer on the floor of the cabin, and we utilized newspaper to cover the floor in an effort to mitigate the mess. I found the knife the next day. I dug through the ashes and found the burned blade...handle totally absent.

The shock of my life came when Buck sent me a letter (which I still have to this day) explaining that while this behavior voids their guarantee, please accept a brand new Buck knife on us. As I looked at the new knife which came free of charge, I knew that I would quickly become a Buck Knife addict.

To this day I still have a 110 and a 119 that ride with me in the truck. After all my travels, those two still bring back great memories and the reminder of the solid warranty that follows all of the Buck line. You can read my posts on knife collecting and understand why the addiction keeps coming back...I must have told this story a couple hundred times or more. No telling how many Buck knives I have helped to sell. The company was also honest with me when I called a few years back and asked about their production in China. They never tried to hide anything but explained market conditions and related the costs of doing business in the US. Their move from El Cajon was due to ever increasing prices hikes, taxes etc. We should support them in a greater way on these forums.

Update - I did send an email to Governor Otter detailing my experience and asking him to nurture good businesses like Buck here in our state. (Idaho)

buck is a great company teague and i'm glad that they moved to idaho and you should be proud and remind local politicians that they need to stay business friendly for buck.
i'm from cali but hold no grudges for the move. buck did the right thing. our politicians and business practices are for sh*t. we either kill off our own citizens in the name of big business to do whatever they want unfettered and kill off mom and pop stores with our unrealistic regulations/permits, etc. buck is right in between as a fairly big family owned manufacturing company, we had a chance to make right. but our politicians (state and local) are like spoiled kids: "you should pay through the nose for the privelige of living/doing business in cali, dont complain just pay my salary, i have corrupt people to grease with the citizenry's money."
it all started with the end of the aerospace/military industry in socal after the cold war, and its been all down hill since then. its only gonna get worse. buck was right to move. and with the recent u.s. economic probs the last few years, we are ready to go broke, an entire state! we grow enough food to feed the world! it doesnt make sense.
glad i dont own/run a business here and if my family didnt have income properties here that i have to look after, i'd be long gone too.

LETS ALL GO BUY A BUCK!
