Buck maker issues?

So, I go to Dick's sporting goods to pick up a S&W magazine for a friend, and as always I have to look at the knife section. I pick up a Buck 110 and it says made in CHINA! What startled me was I went to their website and it says made in USA in the description. I have my 2 110's from 10 and 25 years ago that are USA grown, but has Buck outsourced their best model? Has anyone seen this at Dicks Sporting Goods/Walmart?

The 110 is all USA im certain. They have a China line of traditional folders.

Maybe it included a sheath and that was what the China part was referring to?

I agree with the others. The Buck 110 is not made overseas. Where on the knife itself are you finding these markings?

The leather sheaths are made in Mexico. I think the nylon ones are Chinese, though, and the 110 is available from most big box stores with the nylon sheath rather than the leather one, for cost reasons.

The 110 is marked on the blade with place of manufacture as illustrated by the authentic Buck 110 in the photo below. If it says USA like this one you can disregard any other marking as it doesn't pertain to the knife but rather the sheath or packaging.

When the fakes are made exactly like the original......the fake discussion becomes irrelevant.

Nothing can be proved.

I've asked a directior at BKI to comment on this. If Dick's and Walmart buy direct from Buck, that should put to rest any question as to the country of origin for the 110's. Buck is not apt to be selling counterfeits of their own knives.

This just came from Bill Keys, Director of Manufacturing and Engineering at Buck Knive's Inc.

""Hi Dave,

All of the Buck 110's we sell are produced here in the US (Post Falls, ID). Dick's and Wal Mart both buy directly from Buck; we receive their orders directly in house and ship from here to their distribution centers or stores. We control the distributors (number, who they are, etc) that we sell to. All of them are reputable and if we were to become aware that they were selling counterfeit Buck products, we would drop them and take action immediately. That being said, I know there are many counterfeit Buck knives, including 110's, out there. Buying from a reputable source is the best guarantee against counterfeits.

Bill Keys"

This must be what the OP saw.

Right you are.Leather -Mexican,nylon-China.

Bought a 110 about a week and a half ago at Wal Mart. USA made, nylon / cordura type sheath made in China.

$28. A good deal, I'd say.

I also know that it is the nylon sheath that is chinese. I cannot speak for the leather one but i do know the knife is american and the nylon is chinese.

Sorry I didn't get back to you guys. I had a busy day. It said CHINA right on the tang. I understand the sheath is CHINA made, because I own one. I really doubt Dicks sells counterfits....It just doesn't add up.

You sure it says BUCK and its not one of those Winchester Sorta Kinda Buck 110 Looking knives? If it says Buck,Dicks has some explainin' to do.

I just checked Dick's Sporting Goods website, don't want to run the risk of getting gigged for posting a link but if you look up the a Buck 110 it lists

Country of origin : CHINA

Also the knife pictured on Dick's website has no nail nick nor is it marked/stamped on the left side of the blade like a 110 should be.
