Buck maker issues?

knife on the website looks like a fake to me.

It looks a bit like this doesn't it.;) This is a picture I just took of the backside of an everyday 110. I reversed the image and guess what. It looks just like the one on Dick's website.

Dave, it looks exactly like the photo on their website. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Here's the original photo. I've seen things like this before. A local classified ad for a Harley had the picture reversed, looked strange with the air cleaner and exhaust on the wrong side.

Sure does. I learned a lesson with one of my last Spyderco purchases. The Deacon set me straight with the antics of Moteng and their photo-chopping of knives.

The pic of the 110 was probably reversed just so it matched the rest of the knives listed on their site. Having the knives all pointing the same direction whenever possible might be their way of keeping the site "clean".

Hey, that's funny - I've got one like that too.

(Mine has the Bos HT markings, though.)

Hmmm.... the most recent review of the linked knife.

"classic style. looks like a good old fashion american knive. heavy, but that ussualy means something is solid so its good quality. i like fancy blades just as much as the next guy,but every once in a while theres a good old styled knife that catches my eye. and this one did. not made in the U.S.A. unlike most buck knives but it is still a good one. i dont know, something about it just feels right. i would definetly recommend."

Still, could just be their web guys not placing the correct reviews with specific models.

Yeah...I noticed that in the review. The reviewer probably got their info off of the website thus perpetuating the misinformation. The website info really needs to be fixed.

Guys, went back to Dicks, I couldn't take a picture because the camera died, so I did some looking. I looked at all of the boxes, and the rest were USA, but the one said China. I don't want to stir any trouble. Maybe a mistake?

I guess I missed this post. I assumed wrongly that you had bought a knife a Dick's that was marked China. So when you went back the one marked as made in China wasn't there? Most likely a mistake in my opinion.

No, it WAS there. Right where I left it. I wouldn't buy a Chinese made 110 even if you paid me a thousand dollars. Like the man said, someone could have swapped it out for a fake one and returned it for a free knife.

Was the packaging the same as the USA marked bucks?

Also if someone swapped out a fake why is there a review that also comments on the knife being made in China?

"boxes"? Every Dick's Sporting Goods I've been in, the Buck knives (and every other brand) were in plastic sealed clamshell packs?????

without a picture that says buck 110 and made in china i doubt this story.posted picture looks reversed to me.grain on handle is the same.some are too lazy to take a picture of both sides.

Of course it's reversed, I said that it was. It was taken, reversed and posted simply to explain the strange picture that Dick's uses in their online catalog.

Why is it so difficult to take a simple picture of the suspect knife? I mean damn, with all the digital camera's, camera phones, etc, it shouldn't be that hard....just sayin'

I must agree, this thread seems based on some mystery "China" 110 that no one can verify.

Pointing fingers at Buck or Dick's sems out of line without some proof.

Some folks concluding some kind of counterfit switch, though possible, is nothing but speculation.

I don't buy it.

Any Buck knife I buy will be made in the good old USA.

So, I go to Dick's sporting goods to pick up a S&W magazine for a friend, and as always I have to look at the knife section. I pick up a Buck 110 and it says made in CHINA! What startled me was I went to their website and it says made in USA in the description. I have my 2 110's from 10 and 25 years ago that are USA grown, but has Buck outsourced their best model? Has anyone seen this at Dicks Sporting Goods/Walmart?

No. But have you seen any of these around your area?

Regarding the Dick's link:

If the Buck is USA made it is Dick's problem... who else would be responsible for accuracy of their site?

And if I were Buck I would sure have someone occasionally take a look at the content of a large online distributor for errors. ;)

If the 110 sold at Dick's is China made then Buck needs to get accurate info to the buying public.
