Buck Marksman - what does everyone think?

I got to play with a Marksman this past weekend while hanging out at the USA Made Blade shop for the grand re-opening. I was very impressed by the knife I was holding and even more surprised when I read it was a Buck. Nothing against the brand, they make excellent knives, but I didn't expect anything new or innovative out of a brand that found it's niche long ago. I'll be buying one after Christmas for certain.

Well, since apparently I missed this thread the first time around, yeah, great knife. Stellar knife, very underrated. F&F were well above what I've experienced with Buck in the past, flipping action is fantastic, loads of fun to play with.

And SKBlades has a run coming with S35VN and G10 scales. I think I'll have a hard time getting that version out of my pocket. :D

I like my marksman, just wish the pocket clip could be moved for tip down carry.

The SK blades version looks real good!

Those of you who own this knife, how do you like it for EDC pocket carry? I haven't handled one yet, but seems to me the locking plate is widest part of the knife, and the jimping on it would make for uncomfortable pocket carry and/or rapidly wear through a pair of pants.

I honestly haven't had any issues with that, but it's also smaller than the knives I typically carry.

I consider it a dangerous design. If the lock arm is out is spec/adjustment, the flipped-open blade will not lock, bounce back, and slam the blade closed, and into your fingers, if they aren't out of the way.

Impossible. It wouldn't stay closed OR open, nor would it flip, as the same bar is what keeps it closed and serves as the detent.
