Buck-n-Guns

Thanks gents, that old rifle has been a long-time hunting companion for me. OH

Good looking 88, I've got one in 308 as well. It was made in 1960 and It's pretty mint and It's only been hunted with once by me. I put a Leupold 1.5x5 on it and it is pretty light weight compared to my 1950 vintage Winchester model 70 with an old weaver 3x scope on it. I use a buck 102 mostly, I'd like to get a 113 though. Thanks nice pics and buck.

Thank you for the compliments. Post a photo of your M88 and Buck Knives - I never get tired of seeing nice old firearms and nice Buck Knives. OH

My new EDC. Soon as it gets back from SA, that is. After a box or 2, it started shooting in bursts of 2 or 3. Fun for the range, but a liability on the belt.
Along with a unique dagger that came my way.

I experienced the opposite issue with the 5" variant in failure to battery repeatedly per mag. I did send it back to Springfield and they polished the barrel ramp, reamed/polished chamber, & replaced the sear spring. It has been solid since. I hope yours comes back solid and reliable as well.

Beautiful knife. Never seen that blade shape before. Is that Walrus Ivory handle?

Yes, walrus tusk. It's been through the hands of several collectors. It's one of the odder ones that came out of El Cajon.

It sucks to have to send it back, but it happens I guess. I'm sure it'll come back ready to roll.

I remember when the grandfather of that pistol (the McCormick-Tripp frame) was available only as a frame and magazines that had to be built as Limited and Open race guns for USPSA (and IPSC Standard/Open). The current popularity prompted Springfield to bring a far more cost-effective version to market and that is a very good thing. I don't own one, but I have shot several in a variety of configurations and they are overall the most efficient shooting platform available.
