Buck or Spyderco?

Spydercos are superior to Bucks in most respects . Steel quality , ergos , carry ergos , etc .

I have a 889 & Endura (old model) I've been packing the Endura for 4 yrs now & it's starting to get a little blade play (up & down) I got the 889 last Oct. (SMKW $56.00) I've been packing it ever since & really like it. The liner issue was on the '05 models & older from what I've been reading, They changed the liners to a thicker steel on the new models. Mine Locks up solid & has not given me a moments trouble ! The Spyderco is a lot thinner & lighter.
At your age I would get the Native , & you will get a lot less hassel from adults on a kid w/ a big knife:rolleyes: Don't underestimate te Native its a lot of knife for what it is.

Sorry all you spyderco guys, I just cant stomach the looks of them. :( I wish I could but I just cant. I was about to order one but I chickened out last minute. I wont be buying the buck either though because of the liner issues which I hear about all the time. I like folders with a 3.5 to 4 inch blade though, I just ignore the sheeple.

edit: The buck isnt much of a looker either but its okay and looks like it would take abuse. Im really not that much into tacticals.

If you want the Buck, look for a second hand(but new in box) Buck 882 SBTG. Sometimes you can get one for $80, and the G-10 handle scales are WAY nicer than that glass filled nylon stuff on the 889.
If you want to pry and chop, get the buck(the 882 and 889 are the same design; the 882 is better materials); if you want to SLICE, get a Spyderco.
Or a BM Griptilian if you don't like the Spyderco look.
The liner issues are overhyped unless you're reverse grip stabbing car doors or some crap. The only issue I had was I had to file down the lock to get it to engage at the correct spot; easy with the screw constuction of the 882.

Can't stand serrations on a blade under 5 inches plus I have never been a fan of liner lock. (that wont stop me from getting a good knife though.) Ill know the right one when it comes along though. No real rush. (The right one came along a long time ago acually, but it cost too much :D, BM mini rukus.)
