Buck quality control duds

I've held off on getting any more Bucks due to the issues I've had with them. I really want another 301 or 303, but I hate how soft the springs are. I'd also like another 501 or 503, but that sunken lockbar when they're closed just bothers me to no end. I also had issues with scales getting loose on those. The only Buck I have right now is a Rosewood 309 that needs to be sent back, because the blades have developed some pretty bad wobble. The shield also fell off, never to be seen again. That black adhesive they use doesn't work at all.

I will say, I bought one of those BG-42 110's, and that thing was just about perfect. I hate that I had to sell it off.

Wallace Mutt, good luck on your second Vantage. Buck may have some issues here and there, but most of the times they try to make it right.

It seems like the more popular mass produced models have a higher degree of variable quality. I still don't know what a perfect example of 110 is since they're all different because each employee is different. The shame is that I buy this $35 knife and take if for what is, no frills but functional as I should expect, but no. It looked like it was damaged during the build and then slapped on the scales, then the scales got damaged. Then I buy this $180 custom shop knife and it failed my expectations with what I assume to be sloppy hurried work. From what I'm seeing, there's no difference between my $35 knife and my $180 knife and whoever decides which knives leave the factory isn't doing their jobs.

Have you contacted Buck and let them know? Maybe do that before you keep slamming buck in front of a bunch of people who hold Buck at very high regard. Too bad the product doesn't meet your expectations.

I've never seen someone concentrate so much negative energy towards Buck or their products.

I am friends with a few employees and they are some of the best people I have met. BIG hearted good people.

If you have a problem with a Buck knife in Canada, send it to me and I will fix it for free. They have been very good to me in regards to customer sevice, as I have had many go through my hands and very very few with flaws, which were taken care of promptly. A misaligned Vantage blade is not difficult adjust. There is a good video on youtube.

Well that's a pretty $hit attitude to have. Good to know that you can have an opinion on an online forum but no one else can, unless it agrees with you.

Maybe you should stop buying Buck. Ya know, sorry not sorry you have a problem with their product. Don't like it, don't buy it.

Lol the stress levels are high in here. I got the replacement Vantage and it is perfect. Got a box ready for the 110, gonna send in the CS 110, Vintage 110, 112 and 055 for some spa treatments.

See, it all works out in the end. We are all passionate about Buck Knives. That's a good thing.

Wallace may be a little rough on the surface, but my Buck experience is a fixed blade and two folding knives both with manufacturing defects. The Vantage I fixed myself, the other I sent in. It was fixed, but now another manufacturing defect has reared its head. Since it is a Mayo, it certainly is not holding up like a Sebenza. It was marketed as the affordable, custom-designed Sebenza. Now my little Hartsook, in Bos treated S30V, that truly is as good as any CRK :)

I'm glad it worked out. Your statement below is what got me going by referring to a whole lot of knives heading back to Buck because of issues....... but above you say spa treatment Im. there is a big difference....

None yet, I'll tell you one thing though. It is going to be one heavy box of knives for the postal services. :P

I got the impression some of those were going in for warranty work as well, Makael, like the Custom Shop 110 with the gap at the butt end.

Adding it up, I figure I've had to send in at least 60% of the Bucks I've owned for warranty service. That's not counting ones that may have had an issue that I was able to solve myself. Not a great track record at all, but oddly enough, I'd still like to add some Bucks to my stable again.

I gave one away, I contacted the store where I purchased about the other 2 and got a choice to send them back or get an additional discount of %20 off. They are still on the list. I don't want all my knives in at the same time.

The Vantage is infamous for its off center blades. I have owned two (one with the rosewood scales) and both had to be sent back. They should have released the Vantage as a lock back.

My Vantage would not lock. When open you could close it with your hand, but the blade was centered :)

I have two vantage are fine. took one back for lock up at 100 percent. Buck promptly replaced IT.
I've also sent back 1 of 2 gerber and 1 of 2 leatherman wave.

Considering I have almost 100 Buck knives and only one needed warranty work I would say Buck does a great job. I'm not considering blade centering an issue unless the blade rubs, none do.

ive been lucky with my handful of vantages as well. all good quality and fit and finish. one came missing a pocket clip but the vendor took care of me on that so not really an issue.

just wish buck would make a 4" blade vantage. course backlock would be nice as well.
