Buck quality control duds

Mike's comment that "final inspection is easily the most important part of the job" suggests that he doesn't understand how quality happens. Quality isn't "inspected in" at the end of the process--it's "built in" during the manufacturing process. If the manufacturing is done right the quality is already there when the inspector receives it.

Inspection is important but primarily to make certain that manufacturing process is working properly and to identify the need for corrective action when it isn't.
