Buck reaper ***NEW AND IMPROVED*** back from StoneKnifeWorks

Hollow grinds seem to have worked well for Buck for a long time now. If it's ain't broke, no need to fix it. Folks that think other grinds are better, should just buy the brands that use the grind that they like.

What kind of grind did Ron Hood specify for the Punk and why?

IMO hollow grinds make perfect sense for hunting knives so its perfectly sensible that the majority of their line. But for knives sold as good for general purpose outdoor knives or survival knives? Hood got it right. Buck can too.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results when you get it back. Maybe Heath can turn that "pigs ear" into a "silk purse" so to speak.

I sure hope so, I will post pictures soon. Heath has confirmed the receipt of the knife and his turn around is shockingly fast.

Well I received a preliminary follow up from Heath, and he was able to remove the coating without a problem. I think it looks way better with the coating removed. Heath still needs to replace the handle material with the up graded handles but here is a small taste.

Wow, what a difference without the coating. So far so good, LoL, looking forward to seeing it with the new scales.

Wow Matt & Heath,

I like the way that looks, The hollow grind sure is sweet. But, it's not a Buck any more;)

Back from StoneKnifeWorks, Heath did an amazing job making this knife one to be proud of. Check it out. It has a satin finished blade, Olive Green Linen Micarta handle scales and a red liner. Great job Heath, you never cease to amaze me...

The Reaper is a bit deceiving when you look at it. It appears to be a heavy work horse, but It is extremely light and feel a bit odd. The new handles will give it some extra weight. The pictures were sent to me by Heath, so I haven't held it yet. Heath shipped it out to me today so it should be here in a couple of days.

The edges are a bit squared but the Micarta gets thicker and swells toward the butt of the knife to give a better grip. I don't see it being a problem.
