Funny you should mention that - I noticed that about my green one, as well... and, at times, I find myself absentmindedly running my finger over the blade tip. Occasionally, I have the thought that the blade shouldn't catch my finger like that; but most of the time there isn't much thinking involved. I'm not proud of this statement, but there have been a few times that I've tried to see if I could open the blade that way. (I'm not a fidget flipper; but i'm not without my quirks)If that’s not enough of a mess, the blade is about two sharpening away from being proud. I can actually snag it with my finger tip.
Mine came back from Buck with the tip nicely submerged in the well. Perhaps a trip home for yours as well?Funny you should mention that - I noticed that about my green one, as well... and, at times, I find myself absentmindedly running my finger over the blade tip. that nickel silver can tarnish as badly as the brass does, for me. I assume it's my chemistry as I'm a heavy salt sweater. i make stainless like 420hc covered in rust spots from an afternoon of sweating in my pocket easily.I’ve had a Buck knife ( granted made under contract by either Camillus or Schrade ) for 45 years and this is a first for me...seriously 3 days in my pocket and it has more tarnish the all my 50 year old knives combined. I like that patina, would like my brass bolstered 110, 112s to develop like that.I’ve had a Buck knife ( granted made under contract by either Camillus or Schrade ) for 45 years and this is a first for me...seriously 3 days in my pocket and it has more tarnish the all my 50 year old knives combined. if that knife had the 300 series stainless bolsters like a 500, theyd still be shiny.
We’re hoping it’s only a hibernation for a short time for SK but it’s not a sure thing. Copper and Clad is still a Buck dealer and had a lot of inventory. There are some others that have had SFOs but I don’t know if they are supporting here on bf. maybe others will know. From what I gather, SK no longer has their connection to Buck for dealer exclusives?
Does this leave DLT as the only source, aside from the custom shop, for exclusive models with upgraded blade steel, etc.?
I did just order the S35vn version of the 501 from DLT. Glad I purchased the SK 501 barehead version in CPM154 when I did. Nice knife.
Should have bought two. Dang it.
I rotate that with the 301 forum knife. Great knife too imho.
