Buck S35VN 501 Exclusives?

Happy it all worked out. Sweet knife :thumbsup: Sometimes these little trials in life add value and appreciation (once they are over of course). Nothing good is ever easy, right?

If that’s not enough of a mess, the blade is about two sharpening away from being proud. I can actually snag it with my finger tip.
Funny you should mention that - I noticed that about my green one, as well... and, at times, I find myself absentmindedly running my finger over the blade tip. Occasionally, I have the thought that the blade shouldn't catch my finger like that; but most of the time there isn't much thinking involved. I'm not proud of this statement, but there have been a few times that I've tried to see if I could open the blade that way. (I'm not a fidget flipper; but i'm not without my quirks)

Mine came back from Buck with the tip nicely submerged in the well. Perhaps a trip home for yours as well?

I’ve had a Buck knife ( granted made under contract by either Camillus or Schrade ) for 45 years and this is a first for me...seriously 3 days in my pocket and it has more tarnish the all my 50 year old knives combined. View attachment 1387841
that nickel silver can tarnish as badly as the brass does, for me. I assume it's my chemistry as I'm a heavy salt sweater. i make stainless like 420hc covered in rust spots from an afternoon of sweating in my pocket easily.

if that knife had the 300 series stainless bolsters like a 500, theyd still be shiny.

I have a 112 in S35VN that really impressed me. It's time to sharpen it for the first time and if that goes well I think I will pick up a 501 in that steel to try out. My very first Buck of any kind was a 500 series Prince with Old English script that was my only knife for years. The wife snapped the blade trying to open a can of peas but I was not aware of Bucks warranty back then. I kept the handle for years in my junk drawer but that too dissapeared one year. I like the look of a bareheaded 501 and when I can find one in S35VN at a bargain I'll pick one up. Might be a long wait tho..

Same here

From what I gather, SK no longer has their connection to Buck for dealer exclusives?

Does this leave DLT as the only source, aside from the custom shop, for exclusive models with upgraded blade steel, etc.?

I did just order the S35vn version of the 501 from DLT. Glad I purchased the SK 501 barehead version in CPM154 when I did. Nice knife. :)

Should have bought two. Dang it.

I rotate that with the 301 forum knife. Great knife too imho.

We’re hoping it’s only a hibernation for a short time for SK but it’s not a sure thing. Copper and Clad is still a Buck dealer and had a lot of inventory. There are some others that have had SFOs but I don’t know if they are supporting here on bf. maybe others will know.

Ah, forgot about Copper & Clad. I’ll take a look. Thanks!

Yeah, hopefully SK can get things rolling again. They had some nice products.

id really like a 501 in upgraded steel with the elk horn stag. Looked at the custom shop, but yikes. Bit beyond my budget. :(

S35VN is fantastic in the 112 I have. I hope Buck will use it in more folders. I've been wondering lately if can be mirror polished? I like the look and for any knife used for food it's a plus.
