Buck vanguard 192 questions.

Here is the knife that Razorblades mentioned in post #7 , it's sold as a "Rosewood-handle " S30V blade from Cabelas .

Do you know if comes in regular metal color blade and without any ram symbols or logos on the blade in rose wood? and ill check out that website.

The ram bothers me lol. the black is fine looks pretty good. maybe i could rub it off the blade, i have seen a knife without it but it had the black blade still.

I'm with you on that logo, it does come off with some paint thiner or acetone , you can keep your eyes open for a 192 with the CPM-154 blade thats a good one also , do a search here on the Bladeforum . Good luck .

Hi BKIL,

I think your best bet would be the AG 192 at Cabelas; the logo is easy to remove and you will have the Red & black + S30V steel! That is a sweet knife and the S30V is my current favorite in the Buck line. If you want the rosewood and no Blade coating you will just have to watch the on-line sites for awhile.

Here is one of my favorite 192's with green wood scales; it's a over run from the MS series knives. One of the BF folks here was kind enough to sell me this one (thanks Larry).

That is one sexy knife.

Hard to say????? These handles are a light hardwood laminate that is dyed to the color so some variation between dye lots will happen. I have a 119 with cocobola colored handle and it's more of an orange color. Your mileage may very.

EDIT: Well guys I think I found out all I need to know and then some, I'm still sort of not really sure what to call it but I think it would be called rosewood and it definitely is the one with CPM-154 because I looked at the pictures, it's right on match.

The BassPro picture makes the handle look very dark and squared off. My are very rounded.

These knives are supposed to be the same color though right? the same type handle I mean. the color just changed during different time periods when they were using different dyes?

Yes, just the ordinary model of the 192 over the years. I would think they did use different dyes and that would be the difference.

I'm sure that's the case. I know that different lots of many items will vary in color even though they are supposed to be the same. Case in point, the kitchen and bath areas of my motor home came with ceramic tile floors and my wife and I decided that we wanted to add it through out the whole living area. At the factory service center, they showed us that we would have to replace it all if we did so, because the same tile (different lot) was enough different in color to be very obvious if we just had it continued from the existing.

A bit off topic I suppose, but I've also seen big variations in the color of cherrywood handled Bucks.

Do you think this knife is part of those " orginary model's " http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EHWWLE/ref=ox_ya_os_product Edit: And yeah that seems to be the case, I'm picky about colors when it comes to my knives, it seems like i'll be doing my shopping in person mostly. or through accurate pictures from places like ebay.
