Hi Goose,

I think you should get a gold buckcoat 180, you will like the 180 it's about the same size as a 112 and is light weight. Here is a link to one for auction, just for grins there is also a graycoat 119.

It's a partially serrated and I would want a goldie. But tempting nonetheless...

...Hey gooser...If yer mitts are as big as mine are you're gonna like how that 450 feels in the hand. It's "lite" but "filling"...LOL...:D

Hey Jim and Darryl...
I saw that 450 on the bay. Looks too beat up for my liking. I will keep my fingers searching for one that hasn't been around the block as much as I have. As stated, am curious about the daily use of a Buckcote blade and now, after what Darryl typed, the 450.
But I keep telling myself that I only collect 110. Only collect 110. Only collect 110.
Goose.

But Goose this isnt for collecting!!! its to "test" out and use and abuse! See how good the Buckcote is!!!!!
You really dont want to use a $100.00 discontinued Gold Buckcote 110- Do you??
Jim

That's more than nice of you Larry. No need to do that. I'm gonna see if I can get that abUSED one on the bay. Well, it's not abused...just used, but we'll see if I get it. Thanks again Rat...too nice of ya.

WillHunt4Food and Darryl...thanks...good point. I will see about getting that one.

Goose.

You gone weird on us Goose? You can have this one. Ok.. will let you pay shipping :) I sure aint ever gonna use it.... I think it used to belong to Holly Hybred. Least has her name on the blade. I don't have anyting in it. Was in a bunch of stuff I got once. Oh yeah,,,,it looks like new... and half serrated blade. I guess I though all of them were half serrated....probably what I get for thinking.... Tried to think some last night, all I did was get my butt in a crack.. ok,, later...I been banned to the firewood pile. Thank goodness for 35 ton splitters.

OK, while not on the Zipper/Vanguard topic...this is Buckcote related.
I got that 450 beater Buckcote for about $12 including shipping in the mail today.

Noticed that this thing has been sharpened on BOTH sides. My understanding is that only ONE side of the Buckcotes were to be sharpened.
I can figure out which side is supposed to be sharpened. My questions:

1> since this thing has already been sharpened on both sides, has the benefit of the Buckcote capability/feature been compromised?

2> Is this just another beater I picked up and even if I just sharpened the one side as meant to be, am I wasting my time?

Thanks!

OK; here's how you fix that...Remember in Misery how Kathy Bates fixed James Caan's feet??? When you're done, send it to Joe... ;)
