Buck Vanguard

Vanguards are excellent knives. The design looks good and just plain works. I've had two so far. The first was a wood-handled one I had briefly before I gave it to my brother-in-law in thanks for a favor received, and the second a rubber handled one I sold to a co-worker. He was interested in them, I said I had one and after letting him handle it he wanted to buy it. He uses it a lot and loves it. He's done some backpack bear hunting in the Adirondacks and tells me his hunting buddies all want to use it.

Here ya go kyhunt.

Here's my limited "accumulation" of Alaskan guide knives. Hopefully soon they will all be nekkid like the 110. ;) (The 110 and alpha for size comparison.)

Now that I'm done drooollliinnngg. The 110 AG or Bass Pro? I notice no logo.

Cabelas AG... Soon they will all be No Logo.

Now that I look at the pics again, they are all rosewood (the wood ones ;)) also, but yet I think the 192 has the nicest handle!

Well I won it. Ended up paying $77 for it. But hey still cheaper than new.

Congrats! Now hang onto this one!

Here they finally are, all nice and clean and polished up.
Just plain jane S30V Buck knives now! No colored logo cluttering up the blade ;)

Boy. I was positive I liked them better with the logo. But now I dont know those do look pretty nice. I like them both ways but dont kno which I like better. Maybe I need a few of each. ???

I was amazed, they almost got a mirror finish when I flitzed them up without the logo!
I love 'em more now!

I personally am not a Vanguard fan, but just my opinion here, because, unless they have changed the design over years, the tang just does run the full length of the handle and does not make for the strongest design.

Its pretty much the same design as the rest of the 100 series knives...

I thought I read that the tang does go all the way through the handle. The handle has no marks or pins to hold it on so the tang must go all the way to the pommel. I thought I read that the end of the tang is threaded and glued.

Yes we discussed that months ago. Joe said that the tang does in fact go all the way through the handle and the pommel is glued on. I put my old one through heck and the blade held true.

wh4f, just tear up one of those vanguards to check it out. You have plenty no sense of everybody wondering. (just joking)

I will Amen that. Even though I'm impatiently waiting for the AG Vanguard I won , I also put it on my Christmas list. One to use and one to look at.
