This evening I lost my best friend of the last 14 years, her name was buttercup and she was the sweeetest most friendly pitbull you could ask for.
My whole world has been torn apart but I know she's in a better place now and I will make it through.
Dogs can make this whole world a better place no matter what kind of day you had, but they can also tear it down in the blink of an eye when they leave.
I've been through this before as I'm sure many of you have, but it never gets easy.

I wanted something to commemorate her and the 14 years she spent by my side, and my first thought to honor her was Buck knives.
I know they are a very family oriented company and theres no other I would choose to commemorate my 4 legged best friend

I went on their site and the gold anodized 524 alumni seemed to be the perfect choice, so I ordered two with her name on it.
I know my dad will love his, hopefully they arrive before Christmas but I know the guarantee deadline has already passed.

An appointment has been set up to have her cremated tomorrow, theres just no way I could hold it together long enough to dig her a spot in the backyard.

If anyone else has purchased an engraved Buck knife to honor their 4 legged best friend I love to see it and hear a happy memory or two, I'm certainly having a hard time thinking of any right now.

I hope everyone stays safe this holiday season ( I passed a flipped over truck on the way home from the veterinarian, and know it didn't end well ), and most of all I hope your 4 legged best friends are happy and healthy.

We are so very sorry for your loss and thinking of you at this tough time.
This is my little fella, Tuna. He is 18 and the first thing I do every morning is reach down to the foot of the bed to check and see if he's still breathing. I'll definitely put his name on something special when that fateful day arrives.

I truly appreciate your kind words.
18 is definitely a long full life, and I hope you are able to be there for him when the sad day comes.

I regrettably went shopping today , but was thankfully home in time to be there for her last few hours.
She could not stand to be alone and cannot imagine not having been there with her when she passed.

The alumni was a good choice because it is so thin that I can have it with me at all times, if Buck could engrave the frame instead of the blade I could actually use it but just having it will be special enough.

My condolences to you and your family. Such sweet sorrow it is to see our friends pass before us, but I'm sure her 14 years were more than worth it.

Good choice on the custom Bucks, please follow up with pics once they arrive.

I am so sorry. It is never easy to loose our closest friends.

Sorry about your dog.

Hopefully in time you'll have a new buddy.
Dogs are cool that way.

My back yard is like a pet cemetery.....
Full of awesome little friends.

I always think of Garth Brooks song “the Dance” at times like these.

“I could have missed the pain, but I would have missed the dance.”

The pain is directly proportional to the enjoyment you got from having him by your side all those years. You were blessed with a great friend and companion. Focus on the happy memories and time will dull the pain of the loss.

We just lost a 17 year old dog last year and I still find myself stepping over her in the dark when I get up to pee at night. So I feel like she is still with us.

So sorry for your loss. I should make myself a long list of the cats and dogs we have owned, enjoyed, loved, and lost since I was a boy but just having them was joy enough. Great idea for a memory keepsake. OH

So very sorry for your loss. We bawl like babies whenever we lose one of ours, but the joy they bring is well worth the price to us. God bless.

Thank you all so much.

Right now I feel like I could never love another dog, but I know this will prove untrue in time.
Eventually this feeling will pass and it will be time to open my heart up to another pitbull, life is just too short to live without the joy a dog brings.

When my first pitbull passed my aunt adopted Buttercup for me before I knew I was ready and she was prepared to keep her if it didn't work out, but there was an instant connection.

I could never forget her, but with this little Buck 524 she can always be with me wherever I go.

sorry to you and youre family for your loss. tough deal.

I dont have any memorials of any animals other than old pictures. I've buried many animals over the years. so I understand the loss.

Yep,one of the hardest things in life, losing a best friend.Sorry for your loss ,I lost my little River duck dog on Father's Day ,the worst kind of feelings to ever have.thats a great way to remember your dog.
