Buck was the perfect choice.

Still no word on my knives, but an opportunity presented itself yesterday.
I wasn't 100% really yet, but I was talking with my neighbor and his buddy was there waiting on the arrival of a pitbull puppy he was purchasing from another friend of theirs who breeds them.
The last left of the little was this very cute little female, I just couldn't pass her up so he called and hand him bring her as well.

This is the new friend who I have named pepper, she's very sweet and is already following me everywhere I go.

It has just been so tough the past week forgetting that theres no dog next to me, and she will definitely help brighten the mood around here.

The movie A Dog's Journey was filmed in our area a few years ago. While I don't have the fortitude to sit through it, that movie does get one thinking about reincarnation in pets.

Pepper is a real cutie!

I couldn't watch that one either.
Also can't watch where the red fern grows.

Once you get used to a dog in your life, it's hard to not have one around.
Looking back on the dogs I've lost, it created an opportunity to meet a new best friend.
We lost our last collie a few years back.... it was pretty sad.
But coincidence would have it there were a pair of litter mates that had lost their owner, and needed a home.
It was as if God planned it that way. I don't know if it's us taking care of them or them taking care of us.

Every loss is a new opportunity.
Glad to see you got a new pup. It sounds as if she's got a great new home.

Thank you.
I think you're right about how these things tend to work out sometimes.

Sounds like you had one. May Pepper prove to be another.

We all feel this way because our love for our dogs is imprinted in our genetic code. They have been with us almost as long as we made fire. My favorite is waiting for me to walk the tall grass of the midwestern prairies. I am counting on my old Remington 20 ga 1100 also, even if I don't get to load it. It is also a pink sky in the west as we turn toward my old 68 Bronco parked on the dirt track at the head of the draw. It was green with chrome bumpers..
