Buck was the perfect choice.

I dropped her off at the veterinary hospital today to have her cremated, and due to the covid19 bs it's going to take up to 6 weeks.
They are however going to mail me a paw print which is nice, and my Bucks should arrive before those 8 weeks.

Hang in there, H&S. We have an old dog and bracing for that day, so I feel your pain.

I'm doing the best I can.

Been finding various projects to occupy my free time to keep my mind off it.
Next project will be making a shelf to put her ashes on, that ones gonna be rough on me but I'll get it done.

This evening I lost my best friend of the last 14 years, her name was buttercup and she was the sweeetest most friendly pitbull you could ask for.
My whole world has been torn apart but I know she's in a better place now and I will make it through.
Dogs can make this whole world a better place no matter what kind of day you had, but they can also tear it down in the blink of an eye when they leave.
I've been through this before as I'm sure many of you have, but it never gets easy.

I wanted something to commemorate her and the 14 years she spent by my side, and my first thought to honor her was Buck knives.
I know they are a very family oriented company and theres no other I would choose to commemorate my 4 legged best friend

I went on their site and the gold anodized 524 alumni seemed to be the perfect choice, so I ordered two with her name on it.
I know my dad will love his, hopefully they arrive before Christmas but I know the guarantee deadline has already passed.

An appointment has been set up to have her cremated tomorrow, theres just no way I could hold it together long enough to dig her a spot in the backyard.

If anyone else has purchased an engraved Buck knife to honor their 4 legged best friend I love to see it and hear a happy memory or two, I'm certainly having a hard time thinking of any right now.

I hope everyone stays safe this holiday season ( I passed a flipped over truck on the way home from the veterinarian, and know it didn't end well ), and most of all I hope your 4 legged best friends are happy and healthy.

So sorry my friend, you did what you had to, a choice we don't have sometimes. I know your pup will always be by your side loyal as ever.

It's not a Buck, I did have my last dog engraved on a leatherman here:

I can tell you I think about her and smile every time I carry it, which is most days.

Peace to you in greiving and comfort to you for the days ahead.

Wow, I just remembered I've had the dog tags of a hunting dog I lost on the key ring of my car.
Those tags have been on many key rings since '92.
I don't drive the car much. But every time I grab those keys I see those tags.
The knife was a good idea.

If her last license hadn't came off and got lost a few months ago I'd use it as the zipper pull on my favorite jacket.

My knives have not yet shipped from Buck, but the vet did just mail the paw prints they took yesterday.

Btw from Buck do you get a lazer engraving or just a light lazer etch ?
I've never ordered a personalized knife in general let alone from Buck.

Thank you.

I just got the call that her ashes are ready to be picked up, I guess the 6-8 weeks was just worst case scenario.

No word from Buck yet, but I'll get them when I get them.

Sorry for your loss . I dug a grave for my beagle on father's day 2017 it was raining . The rain covered the tears she was my last gun dog . She took her last breath in my arms as tough as it was I couldn't let her go back there by herself .

I chose to have buttercup cremated because I just could not stand the thought of her out there in the backyard 24/7, the only time she would ever go outside by herself was when she wanted to nap in the sun.
I had to sit next to her while she ate, and had to go outside with her when she had to do her business.
I felt so guilty leaving her wrapped up on the back patio overnight, I can't imagine how I'd feel if she was buried back there.

Retta was an outside dog she would come in for a while but wanted to be outside . In her later years she claimed the glider on the front porch . Her last few days I made here a bed in the garage where it was cool as soon as I let her out to potty she headed for the porch I would have to help her up the steps. I ended up making 2 beds one on the porch for the day time and in the basement for night . I really didn't want to look at another dog but my wife drug me to look at another beagle a week after Retta passed Abby has been with us for 3 1/2 years now . She doesn't replace Retta but if your a dog person you need a dog
The back yard under the pear tree was Rettas cool place in the summer so that is where I put her .

I'll bet she would be very happy.
