Bud Nealy Pesh-Kabz

I had a Nealy years ago. I got the Aikuchi soon after it came out. Wasnt impressed. The hollow grind was deep but the primary grind was too thick and I had to re-profile the blade to make it useable. The carry system while interesting wasnt very well executed. Of course this was an early model. The handle slabs were basically rubber with no texture and held on with glue and what looked like plastic pegs and started to lift soon after I started carrying it. To this day I still dont understand why they are so highly thought of.

Get a Dozier

Just my 2 cents

Dozier is pinnacle in this realm HOWEVER...

I THINK that sometimes a maker "hit's it" and the rush of unexpected requests becomes overwhelming. It leads to some less than tasty results of the end product. If the maker is worth their salt or has the wherewithall, problems get remedied. If not, bye-bye.

If you "walk through" a custom order, I don't think you'd have many problems. If so, I think they could be fixed.

True, he probably fixed a lot of the short comings. My advice would have been to forego that crummy rubber floor mat stuff he used for the scales and used G10. Also it seemed he was just showing off with the hollow grind. It was deep and nicely done but did jack for the edge geometry. Less hollow madness and more attention to the primary grind.

nothing different? well for one the grips on all of mine arent glued on, thats one fairly big difference, also the grinds on all mine are pretty good and the things are quite sharp, the amoeba i have is as sharp as anything i own and i own a few, the F&F is also top notch on all of them, the only thing (other thasn the old sheaths) funky about them imho is the old ones with the M2 had a kind of funky powder coating which i thought looked kind of, well, funky lol, it wears well though, but i dont suppose this is any big concern as he doesnt do the M2 anymore and hasnt for a while,

i was looking on the website and he is going from the MCS to the MCS11 which is about like the MASS but with another option or 2 so the old MCS is on the way out.

like i said before imho if ya want a edc concealed carry fixed blade for self defense ya can do a helluva lot worse than a nealy or one by al polkawski.

Geez, why does everybody pick on the ol' CRKT Pesh-Kabz? I put a 20degree/side zero grind on the tip part of mine and it's my go-to around-the-house project knife. Makes a great hole starter in wood, drywall and sheet metal with its secure lock and all. Not the best steel around, but sharpens nice and easy.

i dont know that anyone "picked" on it its just that in this thread we are speaking of the custom nealys not the CRKT version, you must admit that if ya compare the 2 the CRKT is a distant distant 4th or 5th to the custom nealys, of course the CRKT doesnt cost $300 either lol, for the $$ the CRKT isnt too bad imho, i have had a few CRKT's and they have all been "ok".

I think you have to make a distinction between true Cusom Nealys and the MCS knives he puts out. I would call them semi-custom at best and again mine was no great shakes if indeed it was a custom. Dozier is better bang for the buck for a similar carry type.

the pesh kebz are MCS FWIW.........................or now i suppose MCS2 would be the correct terminology.

while some of the nealy designs have "grabbed" me none of the doziers have, not that they are bad, they just havent grabbed me.

i suppose its like red sauce or green on enchiladas, i dont know that either one is bad but i like the red vs the green myself lol.

I've been reading the post since I've been interested in a Pesh-Kabz. After looking at Snody's site I like the looks of the Facilitator. It's lenght is legal here in Colorado.

It's made with BG42 steel, how difficult is it to sharpen and will it corrode easy?
