I understand that there are extenuating circumstances, but it's been two months, and I think I've been very patient. After the "I miss Bugs3X" love fest in general, this is even more difficult for me to do. I have never been forced to resort to a public exposition before, and I hope that I never am again.

I sent David a knife, which he has yet to pay for. I have sent numerous e-mails, none of which have had responses since he received the knife. I sent him that knife as soon as I had his address, based upon his excellent reputation, and, I guess, because I want very much to trust the people here at BFC.

As I said, I understand that Bugs has some problems. But truth be told, if I didn't have problems of my own, I wouldn't be selling any knives. I sold him a knife for no other reason than I need money. I haven't had any income other than unemployment since May. But when knives I ordered long ago came due, I honored my obligations and found ways to pay for them. That's what you do when you care about your friends, and your reputation.

When and if I receive what is due to me, I will immediately post back here to notify anyone who cares that David has fulfilled his obligation. Until then, I would strongly caution anyone against doing business with Bugs3X.
 
This is very sad to see. It is a shame that something like this happens. You are right that David has problems and he has once again completely disappeared from Bladeforums. His last post was on the day that America started bombing Afghanistan. It seems that since Sept. 11th that he has slipped more into the depression that he suffers from and life has been very hard for him. Do you know that he is OK? If someone has had contact with David recently it sure would be nice to know.

That being said, he made a deal with you for a knife, got the knife and has not paid for it. It also seems that he has not tried to contact you to explain what has happened. You are in need of the money and David should follow through with his part of the deal.

I really do feel that the reason for what has happened is David's mental state and not an attempt on his part to try to cheat you. This is of no help to you I understand and I know you have been very patient. I also know that this haas been very hard for you to bring brfore us and I hope you get the money that is owed to you. I will try to contact David, but he is not returning emails right know. Maybe if enough of us let him know there is a problem he will respond and make things right.
 
Brian, sometimes it's tough to expose someone but it has to be done. I've got an issue with a notable custom maker that I'm gonna have to expose and I really hate to do it. Have been putting it off for some time thinking it would get resolved but it hasn't. I know when I do it, I'll get all kinds of threads about "how great this guy is".

But the bottom line is we have some folks that are not as great as they would like us to think.
 
Tex, I know what his side of the story is, and it's reasonable. To a point. He really does have some personal problems, and I understand that. But there came a point when I stopped feeling compassionate, and started feeling taken advantage of. He has my e-mail address and my snail mail address. It's not hard to just drop me a note. Maybe if he had been willing to communicate, I would have held out much longer. But he didn't. Not a word. If there was going to be this much delay in getting my money or my knife back, I think I was owed at least that.

No matter what the problems are in my life, I do my damndest to make sure that they don't affect my friends and family. I care about other people more than I do myself, and if my problems rolled onto them, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. I'm a lot less forgiving of myself than I am of others. Maybe I'm a little naive to expect that from others.

I don't want an explanation. He pretty much posted his explanation in General a few weeks ago. I guess that's part of why I'm feeling so burned. He knows he owes me, he knows where to find me. He could type an explanation to Bladeforums, but couldn't take the extra 10 seconds to just type a couple of lines to me. Now (as all along) I just want my money or my knife back.

No hard feelings, Bugs, let's just get it done.
 
It is very apparent to me, by virtue of the enormous ourpouring in the "How's Bugs" thread a while back that he has a lot of sincere and caring friends. I hope one calls him and facillitates this deal BEFORE it turns into very serious and damaging SH*T. We ALL have problems in our lives, some are more serious than others. BUT, there does come a point where we ALL must deal with our issues, get help if we need it and get well again. In the meantime, the mortgage has to be paid, the utility bills have to be paid, the car payments made AND all our OUTSTANDING obligations at the least MUST be addressed or your great name will appear on a list, just like the GBU. Bugs, just drop an E-mail to Brian for starters. I believe if YOU make contact, there will be a post on this thread saying ALL is great and this thread will END and be forgotten. Ignore this and things will just snowball.... been there, done that bugs, I KNOW........wolf
 
Thats sad. I KNOW Bugs KNOWS about this thread in the GBU, but why he has chosen to ignore it is beyond me. We all have problems in life, some of us have serious problems, but we also have OBLIGATIONS and Bugs needs to do the right thing no matter how bad he is feeling.....wolf
 
Brian,I talked to Bugs tonight,He is very concerned that he hasn't sent you the money.Yes he was having problems but they got even worse.First his wife told him that she wanted a Divorce,then she had a brain anurisom and has been in the Hospital all this time and he has been trying to stay with her as he should and has to drive 65 miles one way to the Hospital.
His main problem isn't paying you but the fact that his wife paid all the bills and she had the address and he can't find it to send you the money,He asked me to ask if you could call him and clear this up just email me and I will give you his number,I have had dealings with him and he is good on his word.So I trust him and I can also understand his situation.If you have ever talked to bugs on the phone you would understand allot more,He has some serious health problems and takes allot of medications at times.He has also been having problems with his computer,That is why he asked if I could try and contact you and get you to contact him..

If you do not want to call him then please email me your address and I will cover his bill ...

I think this thread is a perfect example of the knife community as a whole.

Brian was having trouble contacting a person and getting the money he was owed, so he came in and post the facts to try and get a response from the person. He did it without igniting flames or calling people names and throwing a fit.

Then, we have other forum members calling and contacting the member in question to inform him about the thread and try and get things patched up.

Then, to top it off, Bruce comes in and offers his assistance to help straighten things out. He even offered to cover the bill! Hey Bruce, if it comes down to that, drop me an e-mail, I will split the bill with you.

This is great. I really like Bugs and would hate it if he was to feel that he was in some way not welcome to post here anymore.

With emails I have recieved and you others here on the forums we now have a total of 7 people willing to help out Bugs..I believe that the bill is only $50.00 so that wouldn't be much for anybody...
Now if Brian would just post back here or contact me We could figure out a way to get him the money and we could send a card to Bugs and let him know who all paid this bill for him as a Christmas gift from his friends..Do we have 3 more helpers so we can all just chip in $5.00 each..

As indicated in my EMail I am pleased to be able to contribute. Let me know how much and how you want me to send the money. This is a very small price to pay to relieve a friend of at least one nagging problem in what should be an otherwise joyous season. I miss his input on the forums and that crazy avatar. It always makes me smile.

As with the others, I am also willing to contribute. Sometimes life doesn't allow the time to deal with matters so trivial in lieu of the much more important matters at hand. Brian deserves to have this matter settled as he has shone patience and respect through this all. Email me and let me know where to send the amount. Thanks.
 
Since we are all trying to help bugs out during a bad situation,I have decided that I will have a present from Santa for Brian also.Since he has had a run on the bad luck side and has had to sell his knives to stay ahead of the game I will be sending him one of my knives as a Gift also so that he has something to smile about while playing with a new toy that he can keep for himself..;) I hate to here that others have to sell their knives to make ends meet,it would be like loosing a part of ones self.I am sure you other knife nuts can understand this,Plus he has been very calm and patient about this whole matter and deserves a token of our support also..
I have sent him a personal email to get his address and when I get it I will let you all know were to send the money..
Which would you all rather do elect one of us to collect all the money and then send it out in one payment or all of us send Brian a check each..
