Build a better Sebenza...

Perhaps a thumb disc opener, good for either hand, and a "tactical" model. All black. Asked about applying kalguard, but they said it would not work with their tolerances.

I have a Lochsa sittin right here, and it ain't a better Sebenza!

I'd only like a thicker blade. More heft, and for Chris to go back to BG-42 stainless.

I have one Sebenza and three Lochsas.

The point on the top side of the handle where the butt starts could be rounded off a little - otherwise no changes.

I'd like to see a less tapered thumbstud. I feel that this would provide better acquisition when opening. Other than that I think the Sebbie is perfect.

don't know about making it better, but why can't CRK do the things that MAYO does to make them better, out of the factory????
just my thoughts.

I wish the Sebenza had a more durable type of coating other than the sand blasted finish. The thumb stud/lug is too sharp but I guess CRK is too stubborn to change it. Oh well. Other than it, the sebenza is a world class folder.

Okay, since we are wishing...............my perfect sebbie would have a 4.0" blade that was 5/32" thick , S30V with a hollow grind, go with thicker handle slabs...say .150", a 3/4 to full titanium backspacer would be cool but I can live with the present set up because a backspacer would require a 4th and maybe 5th screw to be added. The clip would be set for tip down and would allow for the deepest possible pocket carry.

After all, we are just wishing.  :D

IMO the Lochsa is butt ugly. It looks crude and unfinished. I just can't stand looking at the Lochsas! :barf: Yes, yes, some say the Lochsas is the evolution of the Sebenza but some things should not be "improved" upon.

double thumbstuds would make for a nice change, for free  and yeah- why change perfection? ok, wishing!! :)

make it an auto! :footinmou

The only two things I would change would be the option for a flat ground blade and a choice of steel. My Sebenza has a flat ground blade and is BG42 steel, which were options when I purchased my Sebenza back in 2001. I strongly prefer the thumb stud over a Spyderco style hole, it is much easier for me to use.

I really can't think of anything else that I would change about it. I don't know if that means that I am not too bright or the Sebenza is just that perfect ;) .

"should not be "improved" upon"? I doubt it can be improved upon, well at least not much and only by Chris himself. ;)

Tip-up works like a charm, but tip-down capability would appeal to a alot of folks, me included.

cjg - can you be a little bit more specific about what is done better by Mayo? Are you referring to the Buck/Mayo, which does come out of a factory, or the custom Mayo?

I beleive he's refering to a Mayonized Sebenza. I've heard that a Sebenza that has been touched by Mr. Mayo acheives a level of smoothness that is even beyond the standard. I would love to see a CRK/Mayo colaboration, I really like the anodized/drilled handles and the different thumb lug that Mayo does.

1) Double thumblugs as standard
2) Option for flat ground blade

can't think of anything else

A Spyderhole. A flat Ground blade.
Let me see...G10 in lay to keep scratches away. A nested lock.

My Goodness I just re invented the Spyderco Military !!! :D

You know what? I just love my Sebenzas the way they are.
It reflects Chris point of view and I respect his knowledge and wisdom.
handling a Sebenza is also handling 1 man standing for high quality, high reliability and high commitment in knifemaking.

Cheers

I know everyone here loves the Sebenza,
but if you could change anything about the Sebenza (besides the price), what would make it better for you?

For myself:
A Spyderco style thumb-hole
A different clip made for tip-down carry.
A flat-ground blade.

What are you , a mind reader  :) .
