Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself and post a picture of the EDC collection I've been building.

From left to right..

- Buck 110
- Benchmade 585 Mini-Barrage
- ZT 0562CF Hinderer
- Spyderco PM2
- Sebenza 25
- Small Sebenza 21 Insingo Micarta

Looking forward to sticking around, there's some great discussion on this board!

Now that's an awesome lineup for just starting out. Wow. Now just add some nice traditional slipjoints and you'll have the perfect collection to pull from in under 10. :) Oh, and a couple fixed blades.

Welcome to the Forum! That's a great start to any collection - you have a lot of bases covered there.

But I'll continue with bflying's sentiment above... just to get you thinking about the unlimited possibilities of collecting... it's never too early to start thinking about traditionals... and fixed blades... and maybe even some traditional fixed blades!

Because, eventually, you will run out of folders to buy...

Established robust EDC knives, the lot of them! Great choices. You might look at the Spyderco Manix, Kershaw Leek, Cold Steel American Lawman, and the Zero Tolerance 0808 if you're looking to expand with yet more proven EDC workhorses.

Great looking assortment  -but I'll differ with L2D above: beware of fixed blades. They cut holes in the bottoms of your pockets! :D

Much better choices in your first collection than I ever had. You must of done your homework. :p

Right? I started out with an Ozark Trail POS and a Cold Steel Counter Point II as my "nice knife"

Times, they change...

Nice start! Most of us took years to have those all pass through our fingers, but they're definitely the highlights of what's available. Now go try a native and delica [emoji3]

Thanks for all the comments guys! It's a slippery path. I've done a ton of research along the way, and this forum has been enormously helpful, as well as YouTube channels like ApostleP. The Buck 110 is the odd man out, it doesn't get any use but I just loved the aesthetics and feel, and felt the collection needed a little history.

The Strider SNG is next on my list but I can't find any dealers in Canada. The exchange is awful right now, so it's not worth bringing one over the border. I'll hold tight a while longer, but I'm sure I'll pick one up when given the chance.

Any suggestions on fixed blades? I like what I'm seeing with the CRK Nyala but I haven't handled one in the flesh.

That's quite a good base collection. You've already gotten the Sebenzas out of the way (it'll be mostly downhill $$-wise from here), you haven't fixated on any one brand, and you're keeping your blade profiles and lengths diverse. This is the type of collection I strive for too. But there are a lot of ways one can go.

A Strider would be a good next one. Just food for thought--it looks like you could use some kind of more dedicated 'outdoor' folder, such as the HEST 2.0's or similar. I'd also say you are ready to acquire an Emerson :).....and at some point in time a fixed blade or two, again maybe a shorter one and a longer one, but you have plenty of time to study those.

Yours is one of the best base collection starts I've seen insofar as my own tastes are concerned. Others will point out different things though. You have to remember it's pretty much all in personal taste and opinion.

The other thing I can tell you is to stick around here at BladeForums if you want the best on knives. Learn about what constitutes knife-abuse, proper sharpening/stropping, correct care and ancillary knife products. So many of these people are amazing in their knowledge....

My recs for your first fixed blade would be a Gryphon M-10 or Hoffner Hand Spear for starters. Also the original HEST fixed blade by Rowen is a very handy one as well.

Darn fine starting point!

Good to have you around, sir!

best
