Bulging Pockets

Ugh...don't remind me, Christian. I need to get a cellphone soon for work. My belt already looks like the Bat-Utility belt with the pager, multitool and whatever knives I happen to be carrying.

All I need is a little pouch to keep my Bat-Shark Repellant and I'll be set.

PK--the more days you wear the same pants in a row the less you have to do that emptying of the pockets thing . . . .

so true, so true. also helpful when you wake up five minutes before class, not that i'd know or anything...

Lets see, a short fixed blade in a slip sheath in the front right. A one-hand folder clipped to the front right pocket. A money clip with blade in my front left. A Micra, Swiss-tool and photon on my keychain. A short fixed with belt sheath, SAK and multi-tool in my soft leather briefcase. A big fixed blade accessible from my drivers seat in my car along with a big Mag-Lite.
Yup that is my SOP. Others added when travel itineraries dictate.

I did NOT escape from the institution! They gave me a day pass!

I only carry a Leatherman Wave (Hey, I'm still a junior member) which rides very comfortable on my belt in the original holster. I have to say though that it has the annoying habit of blocking access to the pockets of my trousers. Problems are minimised by carrying it above my left pocket (since I am right handed) but that doesn't exactly improve quick-draw-ability.

Maybe a horizontal belt holster might be an idea. Anyone any experiences with those?

Check out the pouches made by Reeline Co. San Dimas CA. They make them in all sorts of configurations and with beltlops or clips. Since I'm in and out of secure buildings all day, I use one I piccked up at a tackle shop. Its got a minimag slot with flap a larger slot that holds my Bucktool and an open pocket that holds either a Benchmade ascent or panther. With the clip I just pop it off and set it down with my keys before I go through the metal detector.

Re: horizontal belt pouches -- check out the "3-way" knife pouches from Brigade Quartermasters. They can be worn horizontally, vertically, or attached to web gear w/alice clips. I've had several for quite a few years & they've held up great. They're also a bargain @$5.

Hey Shappa, Been carrying my Gen.-1 around today in my waist.... good deal wonder why I haven't done this before. Not to cahnge the subject, but does anybody remember a movie about some guy who learns to knife fight, and is trained by some dark secret guy. Takes him to purchase a fixed blade for a duel in the end.( There was a Randall in his choices.) It was out back in the early 80's ?
Also was this guy who had a spydie police model who grabbed it at the hole with his thumb and index finger a flicked the handle out in one motion?? Does everybody know how to do that? Might have been set in S.America or Rio, or Mexico. Can anybody help? So I carry a EDI in my wasteband, a leatherman sideclip in my right rear... A butt pak is good when your in tourist mode

Hey Doc,

Check the 3 D Cell Maglite thats resting next to the Viagra in the Coach bag right now. Is it now a 6 Cell?

To stay on topic, I carry my Leatherman in the factory pouch on my belt. Assorted bulges are much less noticeable with the diversionary multitool on the belt.

Stay safe and all the best, Phil <----<

Bartman,
The movie was "Exposure" with Peter Coyote. It was set in Brazil.(the book is alittle bit different than the movie) On your Spyderco's you just grab the hole and 'snap' the knife down with your wrist. The weight of the handle and the 'snap' open it right up. I don't know if it will work on an EDI. Depends on how well you can hold on to the thumbstuds.
