Dang, I got so worked up. As I was just trying to be "the voice of reason", so I thought. I didn't know about this latest video.

Well gosh, I love both lighter and heavier blades. As long as you don't confuse a tool with a weapon (although lines can get blurred...as with other implements - for example the Thai Enep), why can't you accept both as equally valuable?

And yeah, I know you Americans with "bigger is better" mentality (puts on troll mask)...just like Russians, see you have something in comon (tightens the mask)...haha!

Are there any Bowie big connaiseurs among us, are people fighting about the "correct" Bowie size? :D

I consider myself a big bowie connoisseur. Although there is room for discussion and opinions, my physique and needs decide what I prefer. No need for self proclaimed "experts" or hot tempered fellows to dictate what is correct for a given use/blade type :)

I would say ndog is the HI bowie expert by volume, he has a great bowie collection

If it's not to the exact weight & size specifications of James Bowie's bowie knife, that he carried & died with at the Alamo...

THEN IT IS NOT A REAL BOWIE! :p

I was just discussing what makes a bowie with my mentor on knife fighting. It's apparently one of the hottest debates in the world of western knives. According to many definitions most HI Bowies aren't true bowies, but they are still good knives with a lot of functionality that I like.

Funny how people complain about things like the weight on HI Khuks when various WW1 (and prior) khukuri were 18" OAL and anywhere from 1.5 lbs to upwards of 2.5 lbs, even the military designated Khuks like the Mk1.
