Buried Treasure?

Whew! I was worried about poor little Elijah J. 😟

The barehead, or the one with an end cap?
Choosing a Kabar Jack and a camillus demo knife shows you had good taste in knives from the beginning. 👍
The one with the end cap. I did pick out some good ones from early on. My grandfather started me off with a old timer 340t. So i had a good starting point.

Rob, I hope this post is an April Fool prank too!
We did have a big storm roll through around 4am. It must have been right on top of us, the thunder shook the whole house, rattling pictures on the wall and glass in the cabinets.

Anyway, going with stag today....

that storm blowing through down here now in the city, mostly heavy rain at times

Can I buy one of those Kabars ? 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤣
Other than my whole roof getting blown off and a tornado crippling poor little Elijah J. last night and sucking all my old knives through the rafters, it's just another fine and windy day in the Bluegrass .................... April 1, 2023.

P.S. - I need knives ! ;):p
My Dutch immigrant Grandpa T. used to always say, with a Dutch accent, "Avoid potential roof injury later. Fix old overhead lumber."

What a find, r8shell r8shell ! You’re a regular Indiana Jones (or perhaps Charles Dawson). 😉

I still blame you for my mild obsession with these little folders. You didn’t find any of these in that old tool box, did you? 🤣

Oh, I'm sorry I didn't think of it! I should have tucked a what-a-knife in there, and maybe a packet of ketchup, too. 😁

Thanks for the Charles Dawson link; it should make for interesting reading. I've heard about the "Piltdown Man" but don't know much of the story behind it.

To bad about the delrin. Could have been a really nice treasure find. Someone lost their marbles too. I lost mine years ago. Maybe I should dig around in my backyard 🤔
I was going to comment that I feel like I have been losing may marbles lately, but that I feel better now that I know where they are, but then I saw your comment

Seems like lost minds think alike…

It's that time of year again: turning over the soil and planting vegetables. I needed to dig a shallow hole in the back corner of the garden, in order to start a new compost bin.

As I was digging, I felt my shovel hit something hard. Expecting just another rock, I was surprised to uncover an old metal tackle box.

Wow, this is interesting!
I've lived here for almost twenty years and my house was built in the late 1930s, so I assume this was buried some time in between. The box is pretty heavy, and I wondered what could be in there. The loot from a bank robbery, or just a kid's forbidden slingshots or playboys? (when I first started the garden, I did dig up a lot of old empty beer cans, as if someone had been hiding their drinking habit, so maybe this is where they kept the good whiskey! 🙂)

I brought it inside and opened it up and what do you know? Along with a few tools and someone's marbles collection, there are some knives in there!

Upon closer inspection, I'm disappointed to say they're almost all just a bunch of Delrin handled folders. Probably from the 1970s or 80s, so no real antique treasures. 😞

Oh well, I suppose it's still a neat find.

Some of those marbles are probably just as or more valuable than the knives. This is one of your best Rachel r8shell r8shell . Have a good April Fools Day. :)

I know these guys, you should be getting a knock on your door soon r8shell r8shell . They can‘t wait to get started.

Just know the real treasure may be the sweet sweet tv royalties.

Is that William Shatner?!?
Do you happen to live in Central New York?
Nope, Central Texas.

I don't remember how old the marbles are. Maybe there's a porch equivalent on a marbles forum I could join to ask about them.

I knowed I shouldn't have put that down about the wind ........ NWS upgraded us to a High Wind Warning here, about an hour later. :(🤬
I just got my roof fixed from the last high wind event ....... a few weeks back !
Pleased to report I won't be needing the umbrella ....... I don't think. 🤣 :p

Is this an April fool’s joke?
Wasn't it Mahatma Lincoln (or was it Abe Gandhi?) who said, "April pranks reduce intelligence, like fools or outright liars."

Some of you may have seen my posts in this thread and thought, "That poor old coot is really starting to show a decline in cognitive functions." In reality, I was just trying (and apparently failing 🤓) to pull off my own April Fool prank. If you look carefully, I think you can see some similarities in the alleged quotes I posted.
Wow!! 😲 :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I guess what Sidd Finch said is true: "Agricultural preparation really is literally full of overwhelming luck!!!"😁🤓

I'll even use boldface font to highlight the similarities in the 3 preceding quotations.
Here's one more before I go to bed:
"Acrostics provide recreation if looked for on odd-sounding lines!"
