SOLD
Classy little Bowie. The blade is a two-bar twist Damascus blade of 0-1, L-6 and mild steel. This steel cuts very aggrssively, but patterns nicely too. The top clip is not sharpened. The guard is browned mild steel with a nickel silver spacer, and the handle is a very nice stabilized spalted maple with a single nickel silver pin. The blade is 5.25" and th OAL is 10".
The leather sheath has a snakeskin inlay with a custom made steel frog; browned to match the guard.
I just bought this from Burt and it is truly a magnificent package. The hardening line is visible and adds to the great look of the damascus.
I have two of Burt's knives and I'm getting another made, I mainly look for hunting knives and I just wouldn't feel good using this on elk and deer or mountain lion in Idaho. Just too damn nice! I believe the price is good based on Burt's wait time and his workmanship is the best I've seen. That's my opinion. He is truly one of the best and getting better all the time.
SOLD.
Thanks

WOW
I have several of Burt's knives and his work is spectacular!!
I know you had a hard time decideing to let this one go greged.
Someone is going to be very lucky and happy.

Thanks. I love Burt's craftmanship. I just can't see myself taking this on horse in the Frank Church Wilderness, I'd be too worried about the knife to hunt :( .

ahh, come on... it's ok to earn some money by buying and selling knives. you paid 675 and want 800. good for you... these are the rules of the market...

:D Your right, it's a little excessive. Burt's work is too nice to not share with you guys. You tell me what I should ask.:)

brightred, you are new here and may mean no harm, but the sticky on this forum seems to apply to your post:

Don't make negative comments in people's for sale thread

Unless the seller has directly ripped you off, I don't want to see negative comments or asinine behavior in for sale threads, especially from non-paying members. Questions & such are still welcome, but don't act like an ass in someone's for sale thread.

I don't care if you can find it cheaper elsewhere, the market will decide whether or not it sells at that price. The people who are selling here help keep this site open... when you mess up their sales, you hurt this site.

geode and greged,

please accept my apologies. that's right, i didn't read that sticky thing. won't do it again. greged: no, i'm not really 'short on bread' but snake skin is forbidden where i live, unfortunately! btw: i have three of burt's knife, and i love them all!

sorry again,
brightred

Sorry to hear about the Snake skin thing!
I hope you are permitted bare skin or you may consider using one of those Foster's, if you get my drift. :D

That is a bargain for such a beautiful knife. I have one of Burt's Bowies (see avatar) and for a damascus knife that is a great price. If I had the $ I'd buy it!

Thanks, Burt's work is amazing. I love the knife, I'm just more of a user than collector. This one is too nice to bloody.

"I'm just more of a user than collector."

I'm sure, but your posts here suggest to me, that you may also be a Dealer.

I'm a hunter. Your an accountant. I've bought six different knives in two months, trying to find the one I like best. When I sell them I try to make a buck, that would make me a capitalist. Not a dealer, though I have nothing against dealers, it seems you do. You see I trade stocks and bonds for a living, so I quess buying and selling knives is similar. In any case, averageguy, it's a lot more interesting than being an accountant, so buy the knife or count beans.;)

Since when does working with market values translate into a dealer? Its called economy at work. If some of you have read Greg's other posts here beyond the knife exchange you'd see he is a known hunter/guide. And why are some of you crapping on his thread anyway? Who's computer died and made you moderator?

That's a great knife, period.

Average Guy, it seems you didn't read either the sticky or the rest of this thread about posting negative comments in other people's threads.

Actually $775,or the $800 that was originally posted is pretty fair considering the fit & finish of Burt's knives. Also the fact that he is a Mastersmith. The price now probably isn't too far off from what Burt would charge to make a similar piece.I paid $750 for my bowie from Nordic knives, and I even emailed Burt and asked him what the price would be to make another 7 incher,it was the same price Nordic charged.I'm sure that whoever gets this one will be more than happy with it.

Somebody end this madness and snatch that incredibe piece..Burts Knives are special
