I finally had time to look for and read the review. Thanks for the hint.....there is a good review on the BR in the knife review forum, with some nice pics and all.
The AL seems to have gone up a bit in price just before it s disappeared from the vendors, due to increased demand and lack of availability. I don t believe I ever paid more than 85.00 for one, and usually less than 80. Same blade size as the BR, but slimmer and lighter and seems to be just as strong. Makes for a better edc but can be used as a hard use woods knife.Congrats, I'm really liking that Lawman knife, but it seems like they want a lot for them for being a smaller knife. I'll keep looking for one at a good price and hopefully get lucky one day.
Mine all do it as well. It is annoying but does not affect anything negatively when open.Sorry to bring back a necro-thread, but I have a question: has anyone had trouble adjusting the pivot on their Bush Ranger? I just got mine, and when closed, the blade is loose enough it will rattle against the G10 if you tap it, or just shake it. Open and locked, it has no discernible play in any direction. But the rattle is irritating when closed. Trouble is, when I went to adjust the pivot, I discovered that the back side isn't anchored at all. First knife I've run across that didn't have any kind of mechanical stop for the back side of the pivot. Even a couple other Cold Steels had a flat-spot in the liner. But not this bad boy. If there is a flat spot for the pivot, it just ate away the g10 slab so it spins freely.
Roger that!Mine all do it as well. It is annoying but does not affect anything negatively when open.
I will admit the rattle is annoying. It sorta contradicts the robust design. I was able to tighten the pivot enough with my finger on the static side to eliminate the rattle, but at the expense of resistance free deployment. I use two hands now, and it's a bit tight, but my OCD can't stand the rattle lol.Roger that!
Thanks for the quick response. Other than that one thing, I have to say I really like the knife. I think we're going to become fast friends, even though it can be tricky to close it one handed (without being bit).![]()
I've tried everything I can think of so far to hold the back side. I even put a piece of Gorilla tape over the pivot and tried to hold it. No joy. It is like they used red loc-tite on the screw. I'll probably keep trying, as it is annoying to no end, like you said. Maybe I can take a piece of Ranger band or similar and get enough traction on the back side to adjust the pivot some.I will admit the rattle is annoying. It sorta contradicts the robust design. I'll have to get it out of the safe and check and get back to you.^^Does yours rattle in the closed position too?
I agree that I would like it better with at least a 4" blade. That is about the length I prefer all my folders nowadays. If I'm carrying small, in a suit or something, then I'll go with a 3" to 3.5".I haven't looked at mine since I acquired it really. It's a little small overall and I wish it had a four inch or five-inch blade really. Good luck with your outcome though.
I’m gonna beat on it like I stole it. If it fails, I’ll throw it away rather than deal with the customer service I’m reading about here. If it survives, we’re good.Mine is solid , open or closed . Was pretty smooth action, out of the box .
Never had a reason to adjust the pivot .
Maybe GSM would replace under warranty ? I don't think they fix anything or even have parts .
Mine has torx on one side of the pivot but nothing outside to hold the other side , so unless it's captive you'd have to tap or something to even remove .
Good luck and please let us know how you resolve the issue .![]()
Well my biggest problem is I can’t get the pivot screw to tighten or loosen at all. The pivot, I’d it ever was captive, has stripped out, and I can’t get a grip on it at all. My only option would be to drill it, at least enough to get an easy-out into the backside.Mine had no play when closed as well. I wonder if switching the washers out with only one pair of PB washers would help the play. Most CS folders around that size have PB plus nylon washers.
The size for the recon 1 and voyager large (and xl) is .010x.250x.625 and they are inexpensive. They take up the same thickness as the original ones but are more solid and are wider in diameter by a bit, but not too wide as to get in the way of the lock. Just a thought.
No room for superglue on the female side. And it is definitely spinning.first verify the female side is spinning, you could have a stripped thread on the male side. If the female is indeed spinning. Id first try heating the crap out of the screw side with a soldiering iron then the tape trick on the other side. If that doesn't work see if there is room for super glue between the female pivot and the scale. If that doesn't work you may end up having to get drastic and cut a slot in the female side for a screw driver or two holes for split ring pliers? but there may be other methods i don't know about. In any case heat will be your friend. If successful you can epoxy or super glue the female to the scale before reassembly.
