Great question! As we were working through the modeling and prototypes, we just weren't happy with the performance of that iteration of the Waki. We realized that it needed to be bigger, and also, I didn't want to release something with standard slab scales after all the months of work we did developing the full hidden tang assembly. The full hidden tang handle with the guard and pommel is so next level that it felt like we were going backwards releasing a blade with slab scales.
The Bush Waki Mega is just a much better overall blade. Its definitely expensive, but I think compared to other things on the market, its a great value. I think its 1000% worth the extra cost vs. the smaller concept Bush Waki with slab scales.
We are going to release a "Bush Waki Basic" at some point, but we still have to do alot of R&D. Turns out, making something that's cheap is really expensive.
