LOLOLOL

The ironic part there is that the Spyderco is absolutely not something I would personally take with me into the woods, given how the handle swoops up past the edge in the back. Oh...right, style over substance. Of course, I'm sure it was designed by a "bushcraft" celebrity, which honestly would make it that much weirder to have committed a design gaffe like that.

That TOPS looks ok, though.

It isn’t Scandi ground either. It’s got failure written all over it. šŸ˜†

Right???!

You take that in the woods, they're going to find your body next to a fire pit full of badly botched feathersticks, frozen solid because you couldn't use the spine to strike your firesteel! A travesty! Man, I want to speak to a manager right MEOW.

Get off my lawn!
In association with Blues avatar, a good friend of mine, pilot with helicopter service, once came to visit me and landed one of his small 2 seaters on my backyard, an acre lot behind my house… All local kids were ecstatic, he actually took few for a ride… Apparently, I learned later that in the adjoining county it would be impossible to land a chopper on private land…

It's lacking the O2 wrench.

Relatively cheap machetes and butcher's knives historically allowed people all over the world to live, and make all or part of their living, in the "bush " .

Some still do , of course , and would probably be amazed at the fancy gear required to qualify for modern bush "crafting " .

There is no such thing as nations, laws, money or rock & roll because someone just made them up some time and whole industries and marketing were invented to sell things, activities and stuff therefore they don't exist and are not even things.

Some clever people on this thread.

I noticed that in any gear-centric hobby, preferences will always be a strong element, sometimes even overpowering purely rational decisions. For instance, in the watch community, automatic watches are beloved for their craftsmanship even though mass-produced quartz watches technically offer more convenience and accuracy.

I’m not calling bushcraft or scandi knives impractical or outdated by any means (I love my scandi knives too). But you can honestly get away with ā€œsurvivingā€ with a non-bushcraft style knife of acceptable quality. I would not feel underequipped if my Recon Tanto were my only cutting tool in camping adventures, which is more of the tactical rather than bushcraft sort. In this case, my irrational preference for the tanto prevailed over the rationality of picking a more appropriate tool for the job. šŸ˜…

It's kind of a hard one.

Here is an example. Do healing crystals exist or are they just rocks?

I mean they exist in the sense you could point to one or even buy one.

But they don't heal any differently to any rock you might find in the garden.

I am personally kind of torn on the subject.

A shame you aren't one of them, because you clearly have your feelings hurt that we are laughing at your made-up term for stuff that already existed, and it's completely escaped you that no one's laughing at the thing itself, just your silly made up term.

It's ok, buddy! Keep practicing, you'll be a critical thinker before you know it! I believe in you*!

* LMAO I mean, it is April Fool's Day and all!!
