I am looking for a nice fixed blade and have no clue what to get I have looked at the esee camplore line and the tops Trekker and a few others by tops. I don't want anything to big I currently have a buck silkirk. I like the smaller fixed knives with 3 inch blades. What do you guys recommend

As a Beckerhead, of course I will shout the Becker BK14! Let us know what your budget is as customs here can be found daily with your specs and at great prices and quality. Many factory-made blades will do you just fine as well. Take a look at ESEE Izula as well. Can't go wrong with Mora either.

i saw some awesome knives at wally world the other day made by a company called ozark trail. seemed like a pretty tough knife from what i could tell by looking at it at the knife counter. the guy running the booth told me that his had only needed to be sharpened once in the 3 years he's had it! said it could take an edge that could cut printer paper like nothing. thats more than sharp enough for me. cheap too! can't get any better than that.

Can't really go wrong with any of the ESEE # line, 3, 4 or 6 depending on how big you want. For about 150 you can also camp out and wait for something like a used bark river on here or on the bark river facebook group. I saw some really nice fox rivers, gunny hunters and bravo 1s on there the past 2 days for the 160-180 range, which would probably be worth the extra $30. Also look into scandi grind knives, never had one but people seem to really love them for bushcrafting tasks.

I hope that was sarcasm... Ozark Trail, unless a maker is also using that name unknowingly, is Wal-mart. At a $150 budget, please stay away from the Wall Store!

oh, i admit i don't know much about knives, just what the guy at wall mart told me. thanks for setting me straight buddy!

3" blade? Bradford Guardian 3. EESE Izula would come in a lot cheaper, but the Bradford has better steel & is a better knife IMO.

I would recommend something like a Bushcrafter by either BHK or LT Wright and a machete or a small axe to go with it (depending upon your terrain). If you add a small saw for a few extra $ you could do just about anything bushcraft-wise and always have "the right tool for the job"....

What are you planning on doing with the knife? I also like a knife in the 3-4 inch blade range. How much experience do you have?
If your just starting out, I would suggest an in expensive mora or condor. You can get a feel for it and practice sharpening.
I've slowly been getting to use my enzo trapper and it's so far handles everything fine. Just used it to build a fire in the backyard last week. It's a nice small fixed blade. You can save money and buy a kit to assemble yourself.
The izula is a sub 3 inch blade. Nice edc fixed blade, but a tad small for general woodsy stuff. It will perform adequatell (ive certainly taken mine out and been fine) but it's not my general go to for woods bumming.

Check out some of the Scandi grind knives, like the Helle Harding, its in your price range and is an excellent bushcraft knife.

LT Wright Bushcrafter HC

$105 with Dangler sheath.

Double Patina treatment.

Check out KSF....

+1 for LT Wright or Battlehorse knives. So many great knives in the exchange, I think you would like a larger hunter by Duck Childress, he makes a lot of neck knives, but makes a few hunters too.

Bushcraft, especially if you don;t want to go too big, means a Becker BK16.

For your $150 budget you could pair that with a D2 D'EsKabar/BK24 and have money left over.

Nothing wrong with the KA-BAR MKI and I even like the Boker MKI but it may be a little big for what you are looking for as it is bigger than the KA-BAR.

ESEE 3 is a really nice blade and is perfect IMO. I have two of them and realy like them as an all around fixed blade and outdoor knife. I also have a ESEE 4, and although I like it I really like the 3 for an all arounder.
