Bushcraft fixed blade

Buy an EnZo Trapper and select El-Max for the blade material.

The Trapper design is an all-around excellent blade and comes very sharp.

Knife makers for sale fixed blades forums here. You can find some nice ones for under 150. Bradford makes great knives, but I think they are over 150, not sure. There are lots of great fied blade knife makers out there! Just my opinion, but I would steer clear of TOPS. I bought a bigger knife of theres and all I was doing was sharpening. Sharpened up nice, but would not hold an edge worth beans. Rolled and dented edges all day long.

No one's mentioned the Mora Garberg. It's performed well with the few things I've done with it and favorable reviews are starting to show up on the net. I've seen no negative reports by anyone that actually owns one.

In terms of Mora ok I have 9 of them I use in the kitchen all the time but if I am gone have a fixed blade to trust my life to well as good as mora's are they just don't look like the type of knife you would pick if other choices were available. Don't get me wrong a mora will hold up under a great deal I have done everything with mine and they keep going so I'm not arguing there worth heck I'll just say it they are not pleasing to the eye just in my opinion an ugly old knife and I know it ain't got to be pretty to be good but I sure do like it when a user looks good and cuts good. So you say why a condor well I believe I just talked myself out of it I going to get an Enzo! Thanks guys

Glad you decided but the Garberg is a new full tang design unlike anything in your kitchen and is built from the ground up for hard use. Don't sell it short based on a $12.00 Mora.

Check out some of the Scandi grind knives, like the Helle Harding, its in your price range and is an excellent bushcraft knife.

The "Scandi" edge is said to be best for wood-carving. If that is "bushcraft" for you, OP, go for it. Otherwise not.

One of the biggest questions would be what kind of grind is right for you. Condor sells some cheap beaters that'll give you a general idea of what you want. A mora and a condor kephart/bushlore will give you a pretty good idea.
Personally, I am very fond of the woodlore/scandi grind designs as they make for excellent general use/bushcraft tasks. Though they are subpar for hunting tasks.

ESEE makes great knives, though I have been disappointed with their lack of ergonomics for my troll hands (no experience with their camplore line). LT Wright and BHK make excellent knives in a variety of flavors.

Read more. Advise less.

i understand. sometimes im not too good with the whole reading thing. struggled with dyslexia for most of my life. made it hard to be good at school. ill try my best to do some reading. appreciate the advise pal. :)

i saw some awesome knives at wally world the other day made by a company called ozark trail. seemed like a pretty tough knife from what i could tell by looking at it at the knife counter. the guy running the booth told me that his had only needed to be sharpened once in the 3 years he's had it! said it could take an edge that could cut printer paper like nothing. thats more than sharp enough for me. cheap too! can't get any better than that.

I wish this was its own thread as I seen one today and grab it and am kind of impressed with it. At a price of less than $4 I don't see why everybody is not trying one.

I just picked up an Ontario rat 1 from them for $18.00

Another + 1 for the Enzo Trapper knives. I have also been very pleased with my LT Wright knives.

I don't recommend ESEE knives. I was sold a defective new Izula II from TheKnifeConnection which one of the ESEE co-owners flat refused to honor their warranty with a new knife. You can read about my nightmare with ESEE here.

Check out the Fallkniven F1 reviews. Some say its the only knife you'll ever need and I agree. I've had the BK2 and Esee4 along with some Moras and strongly prefer the F1 to all of those FWIW. Lightweight, but much more substantial than the Moras I've had.

Don't have the HC model but the LT Wright in A2 and it is probably my favorite fixed blade atm. Seems to stay sharp for a good long time, Batons right through stuff, and the sheath is a real winner in my book too. Thinking about getting the coyote maybe to pair it with!
