Bushcraft Folder?

Any thoughts about a Cold Steel Master Hunter? Or a Benchmade 740 Lum?

I am excited at all of the possibilities you guys have shown me. Thanks

This thread is going to eventually take a big wet bite out of my wallet.

Dr Pepper...If you are concerned about price, weight, and steel, let me throw out the Kabar Dozier Large Folding Hunter one more time.

About 27 bucks, 4.1 oz, AUS-8, 3 5/8 inch blade, 4 7/8 inch closed...

I'll 2nd that. This knife feels unusually sturdy for a linerless frn knife. The lock pops into place with a reassuring "thwack". Mine has very little blade play and the AUS8 gets stupid sharp. These make great users for not a lot of money.

I can second the Benchmade Rukus, I have the Mini. It is the biggest "Mini" I have ever heard of, and must be one of the sturdiest folders. Two thumbs up

Oh this is a great thread. I've been looking to a new woods folder aswell.

What do you guys think about the spyderco manix over the military?

BM 710 D2.
I have beat the crap out of it and it comes back for more.
I've battoned, chopped, sliced and diced with it and it still looks and feels
like I just pulled it right out of the box. On top of being tough it is
a great slicer and very comfortable in the hand for long term use.

first thing to come to mind at the sight of the thread's title was the buck 889. i keep it and the oht in my back up bag (similar in nature to other bf'ers' bob's). good knife. if you'd do well with less mass, endura's a great choice, though i prefer the delica. cara cara is a great knife as well. get the g-10 model along with whatever you decide on, it's <$25. gotta plug my main knife, the pioneer. here comes the list.

1. Buck 889
2. Vic OHT
3. Delica/Endura
4. Byrd Cara cara G-10 or FRN
5. Vic Pioneer

I'd only choose the Manix over Millie if I intended to chop and baton with my folder often. Otherwise for me it'd just be hauling extra weight.

What's the point of a large folder, over 3“ seems to be redundant? Why not a fixed-blade if said tasks are so necessary?

I've used a lot of different folders in the field, but the one that stands out as being a great one to me is my BM710HSR.

I've also been eyeing up a Queen Mountain man in D2, looks like another great one.
