Bushcraft Folder?

Add a second vote for the Benchmade 710...

Mine has cut everything from oak kindling to strawberries for desert and it is still solid and sharp. I trust it completely.

I am currently carrying an endura 4 and love its slim profile, clips iwb on my running shorts and moutain biking shorts, don't even know its there. I also have the model 1 from RAT, it is a great knife gets sharp and stays sharp. It has open construction and a liner lock, the blade shape is very utilitarian. The other knife I would recomend that I have personal experiance with is the M1 from CRKT it is a Greg Lightfoot collaboration. I have done some light batonning with this knife. The knife is really hand filling considering it has a 3" blade. The only reason I stopped carring this knife is because of the serrations. What can I say I was going through a phase where all I'd buy was a combo edge. So I would definately recommend the plain edge. I would feel very comfortable with all three. My current carry also includes a SAK farmer.

I know the Buck 889 has been discussed a lot over the summer but has seemed to have died down. Yes or no, have the liner locks been fixed? I am lost with too much going back and forth.

i don't know where that stuff came from. mine is solid as a rock. 420hc is also one of the tougher stainless steels. you saw what noss4 did to that buck nighthawk? granted, that's a more rigid design, but the 889 has a pretty thick spine of its own.

Okay not to hi Jack the thread, but what do you guys thing of the Native III for a Woods knife? I still thinking about still getting it anyway.

On a slightly different note have you concidered compact fixed blades Ontario Knives makes a few that are quite popular. not to mention the numerous talented knife makers in the knife makers for sale forum. there are some great edc sized fixed blades around in the 4" and under range and some even into the sub3" range. they offer a bit more strength than most folders and they are harld noticable on your belt or in your pocket or even around your neck. you can find them in just about any style and blade steel and handle material you can imagine. from tacti-cool to traditional. many can also be found for the same price or less than many of the folders listed so far.

just trying to throw some more options at cha:thumbup:

So its a consensus that the 710, manix and military (or para) are some of the top runners for woods folders.

BM 710 D2.
I have beat the crap out of it and it comes back for more.
I've battoned, chopped, sliced and diced with it and it still looks and feels
like I just pulled it right out of the box. On top of being tough it is
a great slicer and very comfortable in the hand for long term use.

+1

This is my first choice when I want a single blade folder.

Can't go wrong with the BM Rukus 610 model. Drop point blade that is flat ground?, very useful! Course there are several other knives that are also great choices!!

Save your money for gas to get back and forth to the woods, keep using your 110 for a folding woods knife. Chris
