Bushcraft woodsman giveaway

After a long hard day of work I like to relax with an ice cold bottle of Old Hickory Ale brewed by Ontario Knife Company. Old Hickory Ale is brewed in Franklinville New York, and is made of the finest natural ingredients like 1095 carbon steel and hardwood. Old Hickory Ale is still made the old fashioned way, and promises to satisfy you for a lifetime.

For anyone curious the knife is an Old Hickory 4 inch paring knife, and no it does not fit down the neck of this glass bottle.

interesting.

Tueller,

Way to go. Great Pic.
You know you are required to do a full blown book report with pictures and other assorted illustrations.;).

Hope everyone had a great Turkey holiday.

Best Regards,

Haha. Thanks everyone. I am feeling the pressure to do a review now.

I got the knife this wkend. Wow. What a beast. First impressions are it is well balanced knife with the thickness working well with the full flat grind. The knife came very sharp looks awesome with the naked steel and wooden scales. The handle is a unique shape in that it is very curvy in a 3 dimensional way. The handle is slightly square on the sides (similar to an Esee 5/6) if I mod the knife at all it will to be just slightly sanding to round off the corners of the handle. I like the choil. I will prob use it to choke up on the knife for more precise cutting and utilize the bottom of the handle for chopping. The sheath is very practical but definitely designed to keep the knife affordable. The knife is definitely worthy of a leather or other custom sheath.

I couldn't wait and got her out for some quick use. I delimbed a few branches, baton a 3.5" wide log, and chopped down a 2 inch weed that was growing off a tree (using the bend and split method). The knife was great, design perfect for this kind of work. Then, like an idiot I dropped the knife into the ground. Wouldnt you know the knife hit a small rock. The tip rolled slightly. I used a very small pocket stone to fix it. It was easy. I am more use to 1095 than 5160 and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to work with it.

All in all it is a great knife. I will get her out soon for some real work and take pictures. I lost my dog this wkend and it might be a bit till I head out. She was my companion in the woods and it won't be the same without her. A great dog.

A huge thanks to Ontario for offering the chance and awarding me with the woodsman knife. I will use it and cherish it even more than a purchased knife. Thanks!!!
