Hello all, I'm looking for a good knife that I can subtly carry while wearing a suit. 3in blade max. I like g-10 scales and I'm looking for something in the BM Black class of quality (does not have to be a BM). Any suggestions? I'm thinking about the Caly 3. Anyone tried it for this application? Thanks.

I have a BM 855s that gets used sometimes for this role. The 855 is aluminum scales, but there's also the 856 that's G10. I'd say a G-10 leek, but the texture on mine is fairly aggressive, and I could really see it tearing up your slacks. There's a smooth G10 version out there, if you can find one.

Benchmade 707 or for a little more money the Bradley Alias II with black S30V blade and black G-10 handle on one side and all ti frame lock handle slab on the other.

You must have a Leek CGT (Coarse G-10) model...the smooth G-10s should actually be more commonly available...

I think this is one of the smooth ones:

I had (I gave it to my teenaged son in an attempt to get him away from CRKTs) a Benchmade 770 with G10 scales that I used to carry in a shirt pocket. It is very small and light. If you don't have to have G10, I would suggest you look at William Henry knives. They are small and very light. I have one of the small Titan II knives. I don't think you will find a better quality production knife.

I don't know how important the G-10 handles are, but your scenario is when I carry my BM 530. It's slim, not too scary, and pretty useful.

The Mnandi is a great knife because it's so unobtrusive. Not cheap, but soooo nice. The Benchmade 330 is another one I like for dress/office carry.

The Caly 3 is a great choice for an EDC and, since its thin and light, it works well with a suit.

WAY cheaper than any of the knives talked about so far, but just in case somebody on more of a budget is interested, I think my black on black Meadowlark is pretty classy:

I carry an all black Kershaw Chive as my Business attire EDC. Small and classy. Almost like jewelry. Very Sheple friendly. the girls have even called it Cute.

Honestly, I don't think G10 is the handle material you want to go with if you're carrying as a dress knife. I think you'd be better off with a slipjoint like a high end Laguiole. Only problem is they are kind of bulbous around the handle and I hate having keys or other stuff including knives print on my pockets. Messes up the lines of a slim made to measure suit.

The Calypso is a great choice. It's an effective working knife, but lowkey with its sleek shape and light weight.

The Mnandi or a William Henry would do it, but they are expensive. I've got a smooth G-10 Leek and it is definitely a great small knife, but the AO might not go over as well in an office.

How about a small Spyderco, like a Cricket or Spin, or a Byrd, as Dekz suggested? Boker also has a few possibilities in the Daywalker knives: a Subcom or Trance, or the new Hyper. Going with these lower-end knives won't set you back much if you decide to upgrade later, and may always be useful as backup or emergency kit knives.
