I have to say, for the record, that since they've started including the Swine Shaving Sheet when shipping orders, the edges I've received from Busse are a lot better. Also, we used to have threads like this a lot more often and they appear to have in some ways stepped up QC on their factory edges.

I think someone at the factory saw the threads and complaints and decided to try and improve them. Or maybe it's that Amy-0 just likes me more than the rest of you! :p :D

The postman uses the Busse's before he delivers them to cut out all those priority mail boxes.:confused:

Off topic... Any body got a satelite image of AK? Looking for a sink hole caused by this new busse black hole. My nose is tinglin' LOL

And this has been a useless post bought to you by the folks at Death Chat... Where work, women and sleep is neglected. Side effects may include, but are not limited to: Loss of job, loss of sleep, deep urgency to aquire more infi, a strange fondness of skunks, alcoholism, and lack of funds. This has not been approved by the FDA.

The only two Busse knives I have are a Basic 7 (mint, never used, till I got it) and a Badger Attack Tac.. Both arrived blunt as a hogs butt.. The Basic is year 2000ish so fair enough, but for what the brand new Badger cost it should have been VERY sharp but couldn't even draw cut paper. Frankly I was very underwhelmed, aren't knives supposed to cut things??

(Both knives are now very sharp and the Basic 7 in particular is a firm favourite! I'm not anti-Busse other than the crap factory edges. Both Scrapyard and Swamprat also have poor edges from the factory- my HCLE has the worst edge I've ever seen!!)

Consensus is that consitstency of the bevel and the sharpness has slipped. As orders increase they get behind and they are trying to get em out the door to their patient :p patrons! LOL!! We are very patient customers arent we???

If they are not sharp enough for you send them to me and I'll fix em up for ya' if you'll quit whining.

Are you trying to be a super hero hog and suck up to the boss or what? If you dont want to address the question at hand, dont post! NOBODY else went the brown nose/suck up route, they answered the question honestly! "Oh my, someone said something less than stellar about Busse" Its uper og to the recue!!!!! I guess this is decent/honest thread as only one rescue attempt, the rest were honest/true about whats up! As I stated in all my posts, I dig all my Busse family knives, but facts is facts!

Im going to try and get the new photos by Sunday night! Id better get pics asap cuz if business doesnt pick up, I might be losing a few. But for now:p:p!
KnifeAddictAK, id like to see pics of your collection as ive heard you have some nice stuff!

Busse's like all knives need "Hand Time" to get them to achieve there super potential, This Extra Work costs money and Busse's are expensive Production Knives but, when u put a big chisil wedge angle on a huge piece of bar knowing some people are going to do horrible things to it, it makes sense to me.,
Some of the factory edges look rough, very jagged bevels done at a fast rate with no effort to polish in deep scratches...Convexing is a risky move for a production knife company, when they know people might hit steel or concrete, but put that time in or pay someone to do it and you will have the most Hair Popping, Supid Sharp, Tough Knives made today.....because of Infi Steel..... I bought a custom shop PD that had a flat grind and a edge like a burnt piece of toast... i loved the knife though, so she had to go to BAN.. Just get personal with them or buy customs they will always be sharp.. because of that personal attention they all get. I make knives like 5 at a time, i cannot imagine doing it at the rate Busse does with all that Scotch and Snoopy Dancing..goin on... But wouldnt we all love to give it a try!!! Note to Jerry: Dream Job will Reloate. and will Stay at Arrowhead Motel and work for Waffles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha ha

I've been less than impressed with the edges of on the Busse's and Scrapyards. They havent been terrible, and all but 1 (a cultelus) could shave hair with enough force, but they've all had very obtuse grinds left with very rough finishes (<100 grit, for sure). Having to spend hours reprofiling and polishing a new knife that costs so much money isnt cool.

If Mora can afford to put a high polished edge on a mere $10 knife, why the hell cant Busse?

Was your response in reply to mhawg's , #47? If so, I think you may have overreacted. I'm not sure how much time you have spent on this forum, but his comment about taking those knives off your hands was typical of the good-natured ribbing we tend to give each other here. Yes, facts are facts, and we have discussed/complained about less than stellar sharpness before. But I don't think mhawg was sucking up.

Since it's Saturday night, and the Boss has not chimed in here yet, I'll say it for him...

Let's Drink!!!

:D:D

and now that you have revealed your uber-Hog status, we need pics.

+1

Yup... It's still fun to read all the kiss ass posts, though. :barf:

EXACTLY!!!!!!:D:D:D Wish they had a dirty nosed smiley!!LOL!!

And pics by sunday 8pm pacific....I swear!!!

:D:D:D

Maybe you need to brown-nose to get a sharp one? So far, ASH, GW and Scrapper 6 were all less than impressive edge-wise. I'm getting a kick out of all the lame-ass excuses...

Jerry, care to chime in?

Why aren't you kids in summer camp?

OK, OK I'm leaving this one alone now.

I really like the coarse Busse edge grind #60 grit when it is sharp.

Very Toothy, aggressive slicing, one of the things I really like about the Bigger Busse knives.
