Busse cleaver... I want!

I believe that if it were to be released, it would be the first model that I might actually pass on (of course I say this now, LOL!). What can it do that a NMFBM couldn't? Besides... I have these:

And they, like any other Mistress, will cleave through any dang thing I want them to! :D:D

The thing that it can do, that a FBM or any variety can't...............provide your knuckles with about 2 inches of clearance from a cutting board when using it in the kitchen!!!!!!!

Also, by adding blade height from edge to spine, you get more chopping power. You can get better chopping with a shorter blade. The effect means you can get an 8 inch blade that will outchop a 10 inch blade of a design with a shorter edge to spine height.

(hopefully Koster won't mind that I stole these photo's off his sub forum over on the makers area)

That Koster is sweet! Looks like a mean chopper.

It outchopped a FBM LE by far in a test in the review section here... but later on the person also tore out about a full inch of the edge in some wood. It was ground too thin I guess. Which is why we need a bomb proof infi version, with the Busse design touch, not a copy. Just a large nessmuk style blade (think huge, 10 inches!). I would drool all over that.

Todd Begg did this cleaver a couple of weeks ago as a WIP. It was sweet, you can look up all of his videos on youtube. This doesn't have any meltdown treatment at all. It's all pointy and dangerous. Although the blade is short of ten inches. :D

i like the overall design of the begg, just not the knuckle decortation's.

Im not big on fantasy type designs...that said, Bring on the Battle Muk! :D I'd also like to see a smatchet design as well as a knachet. Big Muk and Chet designs from Jerry would be mean choppers.

MOAM Mother of all Muks?

Or "MOAN" -- Mother Of All Nessmuks

(also the sound 230gr makes while he dreams of holding one :D )

I have a Koster Monster Nessie in 3V/Ironwood that handles like a dream. I think for an even more effective chopper you could go a little longer and taller, but 10" might be overkill. One of the things I like about the design is that the shorter blade offers more control, while the amount of steel behind the edge keeps "chopping weight" high and together with the taper of a tall flat grind really enhances penetration. Getting that kind of performance with better control via the shorter blade is not at all a bad dealio.

9" INFI blade, 3" tall, .25" thick, with the BWM handle would be killer. Better still, Res-C.

Here's my Koster:

i'll second the res-c for a handle.

I hope they do make a cleaver. It was my idea for the "Help us design a Knife Contest". Whatever happened to that anyway?

I Busse cleaver could be called a Beaver. A Hog cleaver could be called a Heaver.

How about the Full Size Sus Scrofa? It has to be a chopper!

my image folder is kind of a mess, so I don't know where the rest of my saved photo's of the various scrofa styled sh and ash mod's are. i imagine the standard sus scrofa is similar.
