Busse Collector Club...

Here a link for you guys. O.I.N.K. is the official name of the collector's club by the way. We're the guys wearing the funny shirts at the inductions. :D

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237433&highlight=collector's+club

Yes but O.I.N.K. that was part of becoming inducted as a HOG. I was trying to keep it open for the piggies so they didn't think us Hog's were trying to push them out into the cold.

Personally... I'd love it if we were assigned numbers as we were inducted as HOGS into O.I.N.K...... HEHEHEHE... that would insure me as #1 since I was the first one Jerry inducted :D  :D

Well I’d like to join. But practically speaking what is in it for Busse Combat?

I could see it if you were one of the inducted HOGS. I have no idea what one needs to do to be a HOG but I’d bet they are all pretty dam committed to the product.

Also what do you do with the 150 guys that just logged onto the Busse forum today and say “yes I’ll join” and when that first $700 LE comes out they all end up having credit cards with $500 credit limits?

All I’m saying is that for it to work it has to be good for Busse too, and if I were on the other side of this thing I just wouldn’t see anything motivating me to play ball. But then I’m not a customer service guy. (What I do is value intangibles, like trademarks, technology, and marketing intangibles)

Also it may end up damaging the community that is built here because of guys trying to keep their snouts to the ground sniffing out when some slop might get tossed out. That community is something that interests me professionally. I often wonder if this community is one of the products of the Busse genius OR was he just dam lucky. I'm not sure which yet. But one thing is for sure you don’t see it around much and it is fun.

Or they just keep doing what they do best...first come first served!!! By adding a collector club you would be propagating the theory that you have to be part of the "Club" to get anything other than standard issue items...no need to feed the flame of the haters....

agreed,

most piglet's suspect there's some funny stuff going on in O.I.N.K. already (I know I did, till I got my funny shirt ;)).

Having the perception of an "inside" and "outside" can only hurt us.

I'm pretty green in regards to all this...but I really like how everyone is on equal footing when it comes to getting their wedges. It was a trip randomly checking the busse combat site at, like, 2 in the morning and seeing the FBMs up for sale after checking like a madman for 3 days prior. Quite the rush.

Seems like you all have a pretty good thing going here. Plus, the exchanges and such to get knives you may have missed can only serve to make this little community of yours stronger, for the hardcore and the rookies alike. A club seems too elitist.

Hardly worth two cents, but that's my contribution.

If everyone throws in their two cents......maybe we as a collective can buy our way into this elitist Club and have pass around blades:D

I enjoy the thrill of making my fingers bleed hitting the refesh button.....it would lose so much if all I had to do was pay my CC bill and the new blade arrived on my door step with no participation from me!

Question: What is wrong with the current system?

Answer: Nothing.

I am against the "Rich guys only" club. :thumbdn:

To some it makes your collection more valuable if you have every knife with a certain number on it. Me I buy knives I use... then knives I collect.

Yes it would take a commitment to join a club like this.... and many couldn't afford it.

I'll use the FBM as a example:
Why would you buy a $700 dollar LE when you can get the exact same performance from the $400 dollar production model?

If your buying Busse blade then you know quality and your willing to pay for it. Now 80% of the people you know would think your out of your mind for paying even the $400. But that don't stop you from paying it because it's collectable and you know that if needed you could get your money back out of the knife on the secondary market.

Part of the fun for me is the forum and the community. I like seein who got it before me and I dont mind showin what I got. You dont see it around much, this is the only place like this for me. My g/f doesnt get it and neither does my bro or sis, but I darn sure have fun at it. F5 has become my most used button and that is unique to this company.I agree if the things just showed up at my door it would not be as fun. I remember my first purchase from the store.....WHAT A RUSH. I felt like I had just found a piece of gold or something. W/o that I think we loose a little something. Like these SMOGS coming. Will I get one? If my F5 button doesnt wear out prior and I am lucky to be on. If I dont, no hard feelings but its the idea that I might not get one that makes me want one more.

Whatever system is decided on I'm good with it. I like the current one, but Jerry is a far better business man then I am, that's why I have a government job. :D If numbering is an issue, don't number the different configured blades. If there is a limited amount they will be just as collectable. JMHO. :)

At .02 cent and a 700 FBMLE, we would need 35000 participants in our pass around membership....well 34999 if you double your part...Oh wait I forgot shipping, thats another 14.99 which is another 750 folks.....it doesn't look good for the broke team:D

I don't think that would change at all. The Extravaganza's would be the same as they are now, and knives like the GW I would think would be included because they are Co Store Only items. I think this would only apply to Numbered knives.

The only real change is that you would be showing a commitment to buy in order for you to recieve a certain numbered blade. This would not exclude anyone from purchasing the same LE Model... simply that non members would be recieving a certain number

hehe, .02 cents, or 2 cents??? We can make this thing REALLY cheap...but we may have to recruit from distant star systems:D

That would exclude the nonmembers who put there order in first....how pissed would you be if you were denied a LE because a Club member has priority, but didn't have to work to get his blade.

I would be up for a users club.. You just have to have a couple of users, or more if you want, then post pics of the knives getting used and abused..

Hogs of the Round Trough - O.I.N.K.
Hear ye Hear ye
By proclamation from the Big Porker himself
This list shall hereby be known as the

O-fee-shall O.I.N.K. Porker Roster

The HOGS contained herewithin, having scarfed up INFI, rooted out models thought lost to the sands of time, elbowed their way to the front of lines, trampled brethren in their quest for just one more Busse work, have proven their worthiness to have their bestowed names recorded for all time (or until the server locks up…).

I think that said it all!....It states nothing about being too lazy to fight for INFI or elite enough to just have it handed to them....THEY FOUGHT for it, just like all of us here and that is the way it should stay!!!

That simply show's you don't realize how the process works. They don't produce a certain number of LE blades.... They produce however many are ordered and maybe more. So how would you be denied a LE? You wouldn't unless you couldn't afford it, or you waited and didn't order during the 2-3 months that the blades are up on the website.

Nobody is trying to exclude anyone in any way. It's simply a small perk to collectors that can take pride in having knives with all the same number on them.

You seem very aggitated... This has nothing to do with being to lazy to fight for INFI and when you've been around alittle longer you will realize that. Most HOGS are acutally very helpful to one another.... I have helped and had others help me find many hard to find blades.

***edit***
I'll keep the rest of my comments to myself since I don't want to turn this to a flame war.

Kinda takes the fun out of it all if you are guaranteed a blade. The hunt is half the fun! You don't get to be Hogs by waiting for INFI to come to you ....you must go to the INFI!!!!

My thoughts are similar to this.

You wouldn't have to be a member to recieve any of the LE Models, but Members of the club would have assigned numbers that they would automatically recieve.

This type of Collector Club has been in use through Spyderco for a long time. The way they did it at first was all numbers 1-100 were club members and if there were only 50 members then they did not number blades 51-100. All the knives were still available to the public but the Club Members recieved their's before non members.
You are correct, I wasn't aware of the Busse process, I was going off your post about Spyderco who would produce 100 and the 50 cool kids would the first 50 and whatever was left over had to be squabled over by everyone else trying to get one. Thanks for the correction, I haven't been a Busse fan long enough to know the inner workings.......but I still don't like the idea that no one else has a chance for a #1. If you want a certain Number bad enough Elbow and fight your way to get it!:D
