Busse COMBAT Knives

BGAK47 seams like the logical choice, but don't I quite seem to have a handle on using it effectively. Maybe some of you guys have trained with weapons like it, but one handed I tend to poke myself with the butt, and two handed it feels short.???

Push comes to shove probably the Battle Saw with the 1311 a close second. Both quick with good reach. Battle Saw takes the edge because it's INFI.

Dan I love and admire your fearlessness when it comes to grinding / cutting / stripping / drilling your knives, not many pass through you untouched.

You got a couple that did. If I'd have had that fearlessness about two years ago, you'd be down a hofsh... :D

I just feel like there are so many blades of Jerry's out there that are a solid 8.5, 9, 9.5 out of 10 that I just go for it and make em perfect FOR ME. Plus it keeps me from selling tgem as no one wants to deal with my rough handling of users. :)

Never one.... Only many.

Two is one and one is none. Looking good there buddy.

I don't think of knives for fighting purposes and I certainly don't buy them for that. However, I am so used to using big knives that I can wield them quickly and easily. Having said all that, if I had to pick something for fighting purposes, that is still reasonable to carry, it would probably be either a Basic 11 or a 1311. Those are both lightweight, and thus very fast. Speed is important. The tool is no where near as important as the user and his grit. The old saying, it is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog that matters. Applies to many things

If its purely to be used as a weapon, I'll take my Short Butaniku.
In close edged weapon combat reach usually wins so I'll take a sword.

Well if I'm lucky enough to score one tomorrow I'll say the Ruck Force One is a fine option!

Definitely a fine option but if I dare say, the regular Rucki might be even more pointy

Agreed but I think the geometry of the blade on the RFO protects the tip when chopping and it looks to be a tough sob! Either is a fine choice. I'd like to see Ak47 Force One!

Greetings all, for ExtraBaconPlease' inquiry...a SHTF scenario of unknown origin, with no guns and only one blade for combat among any Bussekin we own, I would choose my custom shop satin Waki. My reasoning is as follows, I immediately ruled out all my smaller blades...a few Ratmandu variants, a SYKCO skinner and 411, as insuffient for any major combat due to their size.

The Rucki, Waki and AK47 are all fine choices, as are many of the others mentioned by our fellow HoRaDo's (Hog-Rat-Dogs ;)) Kukri's are primarily choppers with little thrusting ability, and the larger swords are simply too slow in-hand for my consideration even if I owned any Busse versions, and with a little over two decades of experience with several Filipino martial arts systems, I prefer a wide range of capabilities in my combat blades.

The Rucki is well suited to concealment under a large coat if necessary, and has fine balance and both slashing and thrusting ability...but is ill suited for parrying attacks from larger weapons such as Baseball bats, metal pipes, a length of steel rebar...or other improvised weapons thugs might carry openly in a lawless situation.

The AK47 has little concealability, but the extra length, mass and a two handed grip enable more powerfull attacks and more efficient defense against larger weapons...BUT, it's a little slower to attack with and recover from for the next blow.

The Waki is a nice comprise between the two, compact enough to wield in tight spaces, with a two-handed grip to help parry larger weapons and due to a peculiar trick of physics, is better balanced than either the Rucki or the AK47 and is faster to wield one handed and recover from the swing for the next strike.

I came to these conclusions from live cutting practice with both the Rucki and the Waki using tatami mats (Rolled bamboo matting used to simulate limbs), and "Ghost" cutting practice with the AK47. As soon as I give my AK a satin finish, I'll be turning her loose in practice as well! :D

My two cents worth at any rate, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving...and that you and your families enjoy Christmas and have a healthy and prosperous new year!

I am in the minority here, but for me, tomahawk all day.

Let me explain. I grew up throwing tomahawks in competition. Was actually pretty good at one time. I think I have had a tomahawk within arms reach since I was 7 or 8 years old. I studied them, trained with them and even now a tomahawk is just natural to me. Almost an extension of my arm. I realize that most people probably havent had the tomahawk time that I have had but I would take my chance with a hawk against a knife or even a sword any day.

Of course this is purily my opinion. Take tomahawks out of the mix and my vote would be my AK47 with sharpened serrated spine. It can get you coming or going.
