Busse Combat Proudly Presents the Pork Chop Battle Grade

I was just wondering, do you guys think those guards are Structural ? Or i coud grind them off, without getting too hot,
Would it mess with structural integrity of the handle ? I know busse warranty at that point would be out of the window.
Cant wait to get one of these, in Matching Combo with HG55....Sweet
EDIT: After taking a closer look, i think it'll be perfect, Just the way it is.

Harbor freight 1x30 is your friend fellas. Be brave and grind em off yourself.

Agreed, sort of. Outside of stripping, I can't see logic in changing much on a $200 plus piece of cutlery. If it isn't what you want, then don't buy it but YMMV. If I modded everything I didn't like, there's not one piece of steel from Busse I wouldn't buy in that scenario, which would be awesome but also very bad, very bad for my wallet. Good luck to those who score on this one!

I suggest you keep them --- those guards almost certainly play a role in the weight distribution and balance. Aesthetically, it's unique and will allow the Pork Chop to stand out from nearly every other hatchet/camp axe out there

I am having a real hard time not ordering a third one.

BG AK in one hand and this in the other would be a pretty formidable combo :)

Looks very tempting.
Agree on the guards. They do not appear to be necessary for hatchet work, do they?
Any info on the weight, Garth or anyone?

I'm unsure on the guards myself. I really like the straight handle on the pic I posted in the Guess Thread, but the nice thing about this Battle Shark handle is it looks like it will be equally comfortable when using the axe or the hammer side. I'm sure that played a part in handle selection.

Would love Infi on something like this of course but may not love the price I suppose. :)

Now, just trying to decide if I want the blade / handle to match my KDSH or not.

With the double guard, and the hole in the tail, I'd like to see someone make a paracord knuckle guard.

Big Beretta 12 gauge in my hand and now a Pork Chop Battle grade and AK-47 in my hand -thanks David (Just messing with you David) ordered two of them
BG AK in one hand and this in the other would be a pretty formidable combo :)

Canvas for me and I'll hand shape them. I think that'll make it nice to work with. I love my KDSH but always wished the handle was fatter. The Pork Chop may be perfect.

Now, to figure what color canvas... :)

^--- This exact thought was running through my mind as I ordered a Pork Chop!
And yes, I had that really big stupid grin on my face too... :D

Nice fat camp hatchet there. Ugh, can't decide.

I keep envisioning this design with the handle/grip area stretched out, and a symmetrical double bit head.

Anyone else think 58-60 RC is really hard for this type of tool? Hopefully it's differentially heat treated.
Hammer poll = :)
Coating = :(
Guards = Not sure the reasoning on these...
My experience with camp hatchets / hawks of similar dimensions is that they limb and chop pretty well but are miserable at splitting because of the narrow profile. Probably will pass on this one.

Really interesting, but I feel like it'd make more sense as a hand hatchet (much shorter) with that handle.

If you have David Brown hands maybe! Us mere mortals may have to settle for something a bit smaller than an AK for one handed wielding. Maybe a Rucki?

Nonsense - the AK can easily be wielded one-handed. It's a lot smaller and lighter than traditional European one-handed swords. I would be more concerned about being able to wield the Pork Chop effectively as a one-handed weapon due to the weight & balance. If you can, though, the guards would be useful when blocking.

I have an RMJ Shrike on order, which I think would make an effective main-gauche partner to my AK.
