Spyderco folders are about the only brand I have bought that came with edges I did not feel the need to touch up. Most others I put on the WE as soon as I get them. Most of the time it is not to reprofile but just to get the edge smoothed and polished out. Again it is not something I would expect from the factory.
I have a question, I am on my 5th Busse knife now and I do love these knives, There can be no doubt about the durability and awesome designs but why is it that Busse/Swamp Rat does not seem to care one single bit about sharpening their knives or proper edge geometry? I mean these knives come with arguably the worst edge grinds I have ever seen on any knife in my long history of knife use and collecting... You can walk into any walmart and buy a $20 Buck with an edge that easily beats a Busse knife... You would think with the price tag these knives command they would do something about the god awful uneven grinds that look like they were done on a 180 grit bench grinder... Just sayin... Now I gotta get back to spending 5 hours of my life correcting the mistakes on the edge of my new INFI Ratweiler...
... I don't use much more than a ceramic rod and the edge just seems to get tougher/better, just like seasoning the cast iron...
Agreed. A few passes across the white crock sticks is useually all it takes to bring my INFI and SR101 back to hair popping razor blade sharpness.^^^YES!^^^
Once you get the edge dialed in like you want to grind it just maintain with the ceramic...I've never used a blade steel that responds as GREAT to ceramic as INFI does <for edge touch ups>!

But do they pay shipping ??
I spent over 5k on a 308 semi AR and there was issues with it. Cost me 150 with insurance to send back to company and they had the balls to try and make me pay for another 150 to ship back to me.
Was brand new and their issue.
Why should it cost me extra to have a properly functioning gun or sharp knife that I spend good $ On??
This is not a knock against Jerry it's general comment kind of thing. If you are buying something high priced you expect it to be perfect with no other costs.
I thought the 10 year warranty on my Benelli SBE2 was a pretty sweet deal until I found out that it was cheaper to just buy parts and replace them myself than it was to send the gun in.I had an old Ruger Blackhawk whioch cost me $75 to send in for the free recommended safety conversion. I kinda felt the same way.

Everyone knows that postal employees “borrow” knives being shipped for “letting off steam.” This is apparently tolerated by supervisors...
I have noticed that on most brands. It's been my experience that once you sharpen past the factory initial sharpening the steel is much better and holds a better edge and easier to touch up.![]()
A guy can love Corvettes and still hate the tires that they come with. Might not be a big enough deal to make him stop loving Corvettes but it can be something he hates having to change whenever he gets a new one.If unhappy with the product why buy 4 more? Instead of wasting your time re-profiling why not just sell them on the exchange? If a $20 Buck beats a Busse then why did you buy 5 of them? Troll much? ... just sayin...
