Busse - False Reputation?

I have collected knives for many years and finally I received my first FBM last month. The following is my opinion only.

Upon first seeing the knife i was impressed with its build and balance (tick)

Upon using the knife I was even more impressed with how such a big blade could be used for such a variety of tasks. I could chop trees, bones and even fillet fish or dig holes. (tick)

The edge while being super resistant was probably the easiest steel I have ever sharpened with. Resharpening with the use of a strop was simple and quick (tick)

After a hard day at the office, the blade cleaned up fine, no marks or scratches (satin finish) (tick)

The bending strength of the steel (I did not want to stress it all the way) is incredible. Stronger than any other knife I own. (tick)

So is the reputation of Busse False? NO WAY. It is an incredible product, one that I am still trying to get my head around. How can a knife be so perfect? Strong, easy to sharpen, great ergonomics. Well done Busse, the FBM has won my heart. Is everyone else here (who own a variety of knives) of the same opinion? Why is INFI so incredible and are there steels that compare?

Agreed.

There's a place for every type of knife.
I have a ZDP-189 Spyderco Caly 3 sharpened at ten degrees per side with an edge thickness of 0.005".
Then there's the Tank Buster.:D After taking the edge down to about fifteen degrees per side most tasks can be done equally well with either knife.
There are very few tasks specific enough to make one knife unusable compared with the other.

Personal preference makes as much difference as the knife.
IMO most of the negative talk comes from people unwilling to stray from what they know.

I'll be the one to rain on this parade. INFI has a phenomenal balance of attributes for hard-use beater knives, but it's not magic. There are steels that beat INFI in one or two categories - toughness or edge holding or stain resistance, but I can't think of one that has quite the same balance of characteristics that make INFI such a cool steel.

It's neat stuff, but not the best suited steel for every single application, IMHO.

I think it is the best steel for hard use fixed blades. However, I think other steels are better for folders. Probably the main reason why there isnt a busse folder imo.

Busse is awesome all the way though, and the warranty is amazing :)

Here is a little secret everything you hear about the Busse is a HUGE understatement.

Its actually a conspiracy by the few H.O.G.'s here who try to keep the greatness of the blades hush hush, so they can buy them all.
