Busse Folder Warranty? . . . . Hmmmm . . . Good Question!

This was brought up in the Busse Folder thread and I have to admit, that this question has caused me to drink more heavily than usual!

I really haven't checked out a lot of the folding knife warranties that are on the market, so perhaps that could lead us to the answer.

Which folding knife manufacturer has the strongest, no bullshizzy warranty at this time?

I have to admit that it would be difficult to unconditionally warrant something for life that has parts that will wear, mechanical movement, and that will surely be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning and curiosity.

From what I have been told throughout the years by those in the "know", cross-threaded micro screws are the number one reason for folder returns and there really is no easy fix in most cases.

So, the question is, How do we offer the best warranty in the business?

How would you write it?

We have several versions written so far but we still have time to change!

I can see now that this is going to require a full bottle of scotch!

FWIW, they're all pretty similar Jerry and fairly common sense.

Okay. Keep it simple and don’t let your lawyers in the room when you write it. Something like…

Warrant the blade as always. Any mechanical/working parts failure to be repaired/replaced at your discretion for a reasonable (read that reasonably small) fee. Owner pays to send the knife in, you pay to send it back, good to go.

From the folders that I use, CRK has the strongest warranty. Probably makes it easier that they now make their own hardware (hint, hint). They also offer replacement blades which is cool.

That being said, I’ve lots of folders, most bought used, I never used warranty. The tricky stuff (broken screw heads, red loktite, etc), nobody would do anyways.

I were you, I’d refuse to fix a modified knife.

If the owners of this folder use it accordingly...as a folder should be used....I'm willing to bet the warranty will not be needed....except for a few. Only a spa treatment from time to time should be needed. Just my 2 cents...IMHO
