Busse for EDC?

You could always carry larger knives if your okay with the legal ramifications. I've carried dualing satin jacks (hog/thick version, the other a modded or custom slicer) for 2 years now, and haven't had any personal problems with it.

You just need a sheath thats high enough to not hit the seat when you sit down, and low enough that it doesnt jab your ribs excessively.

My set up tends to rest right between the sacrospinalis and the medial latissimus dorsi for the handle, and for the blade/sheath portion it rests right along the lateral portion of the gluts.

I find it comfortable enough that I can wear it all day, and while I sleep when needed.

Hey Seth, no problems with the Kalifornia Sheeple?

I've never seen someone tec-loc something with the actuators/levers/mechanism out.

It looks funny, but I only wear it that way with my shirt untucked... Try it and see how it feels. I like it because it keeps the handle nice and close to my side, instead of "poking" out from my side and looking like something funny is happening under my shirt.

The reverse draw is also a lot less awkward for me when wearing a knife on my backside.

I saw a pic posted with the teklok out like that and keep meaning to give it a try. It seems like it would be a more secure fit especially with a light blade like the GW where the majority of the weight is riding so high.

Thanks a bunch to all for the great suggestions & Pics, I appreciate all the great info!!

I think my Rat trap is near the same size as the GW, and was hoping for something a little smaller.

I did some searching and I think the one I'd really have interest in is the Mean Street line.

Are those still available?

Thanks,
sp

Actually the Mean Street would be larger than the GW's so you might want to search for an Assault Shaker or the even harder to find Police Recruit.

Find pictures and take a look at a Skeleton key, get a sheath from Buy Brown, get the Tech loc as an option and carry the knife at hip or neck.

A slender 3 inch or so blade, plenty tough for every day use, it is what I tend to carry if I Carry a Busse around town.

The PR/CR is not much smaller than the BW/GW series:

The AS and SK are your best bets.

Hey Seth, no problems with the Kalifornia Sheeple?

I just dont let anybody see them :)

Dickies extra long work shirts baby, they cover EVERYTHING :D

That being said, anytime someone does see them they give the generic questions; "do you hunt bears?" "do you kill people?" "why do you need so many?" "why not just carry a gun?" "aren't weapons like that illegal?"

Mainly I just keep them covered all the time...

As mentioned by Rat F, the GW is smaller than the Rat Trap. I think a Skeleton Warden would fit your program very well based on what you said, and they are much more readily available (and usually better priced) than the other smaller Busses like the Police Recruit or Mean Street.

I started wearing a mean street fatty IWC as my EDC with shirt untucked, it is great, I also have a Assault shaker in an Armoralleather horizontal sheath that fits perfect on your belt and you would never notice it there. I also have a few neck sheaths, but never tried them.

For small busse's, you have a few choices

In the older styles of knives that your going to have to search for and hope you find a seller:

SH era mean street
4" filet knife
3 finger
lil' ugly
police recruit

In the one off catagory:

EDC prototypes
bad apple
Pepper shaker

These are a little newer then the really old hard to get ones above:

assault shaker
4" pbf (killer bee)
tanker a (combat 4)
basic 3

And of the new line, wich you may be able to get just because a lot of people have them and are current with the busse market regarding these peices:

active duty
(leaner) meaner street
new game warden
skeleton key
pork belly skinner

The smallest of the group = assault shaker and skeleton key. for general purpose, i'd say the skeleton key is better since it has a longer cutting edge, and isnt .25" thick. its still really strong, its just not designed to be a prybar. I personally carried mine in a calf sheath when I had it, and it was reletively sheeple freindly. Well.... It would have been if I didnt have to pull it off my calf every time I used it.

If your willing to go a little bigger, my vote goes to the crinkle coat basic 3 (mod-infi, smaller choil then the smooth coat version), or one of the recurved tanker a (combat 4 in europe) variants. the active duty was a good blade when I was using it, but the choil bugged the heck out of me.

Regardless of what you choose, your gonna have to look for them on the after market. the skeleton key, assault shaker and possibly basic 3 are probably going to be the cheapest that you can find.

If you want reeeeally small, see if you can find someone to sell you a 3 finger :D

Leaner Meaner Street !

this is my EDC set
