Ninth one from the left, middle row. Looking at that pic makes me sad, so many of those babies are gone, gone, gone.

Yah, but I think I see Bravado selling more than Progunner. Maybe ProHOG has even more than shown for covert use. For the other pocket.:)

Well, 12 years later I discover this post...
For what it is worth, perhaps I can shed some light on the photo that started this small thread, as I am the guy who wrote the article. I was working as a Special Agent for a federal agency when I wrote it, so I chose to use a nom de plume of Dan Bernoulli. If anyone still cares what knife was in the picture, I can speak to that. If not, given that 12 years have gone by, I completely understand.

Be safe regardless.

Well, I retired from my federal job, so I can let up on the Dan Bernoulli stuff. Weird, because not only did I write articles under that name, I also published a book using it as well. Anyhow, I am now trying to create a CV for post-federal employment/free lance writing purposes and in doing so, I was searching out some details of 15 year old articles I had written (and failed to keep track of because, hey, how was I supposed to know what the hell a CV was? I was a federal agent, for crying out loud!). In the course of the search, I found this thread. While I can't pull up the photos attached to this article in this thread, I am pretty sure I know which photo it is. If I am remembering correctly (which I freely admit, I might not be), it is a photo of me wearing a chest rig and a beard, possibly with my "Diggler" name tape (another fun story that is) visible on my blow-out kit and a slightly curved knife handle visible on the chest rig, above the M-4 mags.

The original conversation in this thread seems to have focused on just what knife it was that handle belongs to. Since I only carried one knife in that position my entire time in country, I know precisely which one it is (again, assuming I am remembering the same pic). It is an RJ Martin knife, a Vanguard. I still have it, as well as the kydex scabbard he made and the piece of 550 cord I used to secure it to my gear.

From the perspective of today, taking an RJ Martin knife into a combat zone seems rather odd, I know. But understand that the pic was taken in late 2004. Randy Martin was a big deal then, but not quite the force of nature he is today. He is also a very old friend and when I told him I was going to Afghanistan and needed a knife, that is what he sent me. Now I tell him all the time that I just can't use any of his knives that I own. They are too damn valuable. As a result, they all just live in my gun safe, except when I take them out to carefully wipe them down and admire, again, the craftsmanship.

I can also tell you, for sure and certain, that his knives cut like lasers. Under all conditions.

Very cool! Hopefully you will stick around. I'm sure you have lots to share.

Do you own any Busse/Busse-kin blades now?

Thanks. Now that I have more time available, I look forward to being around.

As to Busse blades, I do not have any. I have several by RJ Martin and a Strider (I believe) BT I took with me overseas as well. My remaining fixed blades are decent, but those are by far the top end of my modest collection.

Dan Bernoulli as a pen name is like a clue in a Dan Brown novel....so, he likes math...
